How did YOU find out you were in menopause/perimenopause?
This experience kick started it all for me: I was tired of being gaslit by my doctor, tired of having to search to the ends of the internet to find any sort of information on my symptoms, tired of whispering about it so I didn’t make anyone “uncomfortable.”
I knew that if I was struggling, so were millions of other women. So, I started talking about menopause on social media in 2020 and something in me shifted. I began to receive thousands of comments and messages from women of all ages who were feeling the exact same way I was. It was the first time in over a decade that I didn’t feel alone anymore.
Last November, I left my 30-year career as a news anchor and dove in head first into my menopause advocacy. In the last 10 months, I have been so moved by the response of this community. From women who are decades post-menopause who want to pass on information about their experience, to women in their 20s and 30s who are determined to prepare and learn more about their bodies… a real shift is happening. This generation of women will NOT settle for being ignored and I’m so proud to be a part of it ❤️📣

Thank you. Let’s all join in on this urgent need for education and a major change in how women receive treatment for menopause. Critical, life changing work. All women should be told that life without HRT will definitely lead to negative health outcomes, HRT should be offered to all women and thus should include testerone which women have MORE of than we do estrogen!

So, you're assuming that every woman's body is malfunctioning when it goes into menopause? We need far more research on menopause and on the female body in general. Automatically gobbling hormones is not the answer. Look into diet since women who eat a traditional Eastern diet don't get hot flashes. Look at exercise, the affects of plastics and chemicals in the environment. Look at the effects of obesity (that should be a major factor), and so on. The body goes into menopause and changes hormone levels for a reason. BTW, I'm very active and eat well and have had little effects, so I have no need to feed Big Pharma.

I thought it was vertigo. It went on for several days. My Dr. would give me a medication & it would go away after a few days. It turns out I had no idea you could get this way when you are going through menopause. The Dr. never told me it could be menopause that was causing this.

Tamsen, May I ask you something? I know that you’re on HRT and so am I. I am a little over a year on it and I love it. I am on the lowest dose of Progesterone @ 100 mgs and Estrogen gel that I rub on my upper legs at night. I believe that you also take Testosterone, too? I do not and was not prescribed any by my GP. Should I ask my GP for it too? I want to experience the full spectrum of HRT and wonder why my GP did not include it in my prescription when I started. I will value your input and opinion. Thank you!!
