Hi Rodian, thanks for the diary of your house build. I found it a couple of weeks ago and have binge watched the whole lot. ( ok I skipped through a few). I've really enjoyed watching and hope you will continue until the house is completely finished. I'm going to use your tutorial on brick piers soon and see how it goes. Thanks again.

It's a brick hod and I used to carry one with a full load of bricks up a ladder onto a scaffold as a teenager in the 1970's. Better than any gym. In my late 50's now and all the aches and pains turn up in your 40's to pay you back for all the stuff you did back in the day.

Re the window, be careful, those drainage caps, you may need to get them off to clean out hole at some point. You need that window siliconed up as well. What is it with some window fitters and half a job. So many seem to think that making it “water tight” isn’t there job.

Hi Rodian, been watching most of your videos recently, great skills there sir, especially the setting out, no suck it and see guesswork. Your filming skills are very impressive, don't know why you haven't been snatched up by a tv film company, this type of thing would be great as a "build projects", production. There are plenty of garden DIY, and if Tommy Walsh can do it, you certainly can. I am a retired time served engineer, if I had my time again I would have gone into bricklaying, keep up the good work, ATB, Bob

Hi Rodian currently starting to plan a self build been checking out your videos and have learnt a great deal of things and hopefully learn from some of your honest mistakes (we all make them). I have a little construction background that I hope helps. Just gotta learn how to budget and plan everything in the right order. So great videos certainly helps keep it up. Any tips or advice for me would be great! Thanks

It maybe a pain to plumb but the slot drains look so much better than the arco grates in front of personnel doors, for garages it's not so much of an issue. Make sure it's well supported though as sand has a tenancy to wash away with direct water flow. Keep up the good work! 😊 👍

21yrs old and It's a hod i beleive with a missing handle. I tried a plastic one when i was 12yrs (obviously not full) and i never want to use one again, but i do think the one i tried was missing a shoulder pad. Ended up becoming Carpenter/Builder though. Also with the Aco style drain you want to install get the ones with a built-in fall so it ends up level along the door threshold but the bottom of the drain will have to required fall, looks much better in my opinion.

Mid 50 and it's a hod but my memory can't ever remember one except in archive old film. For the gully by the windows avoid galvanised top as it will rust away and fiddly to refit after a clean as it bends. Polyprop prob ok, but my preference would be Acco cast iron. For the shingle under the pipe on the hardcore just s bit worried it might wash away. Perhaps tamp and maybe put a membrane in (sorry you will have to take out a bit of shingle to do that). Perhaps see what the inspector advises. Silly question: local build inspector or private company one? Any pro/con.
