Stuff from Japan is almost always incredibly nice! The standing option was a space saving option but being on it's side might slow down loading I would use the stand under for air circulation like the foam blocks with my 360. I femember a friend bring in to get lazer 'upgrade' .

It honestly disappoints and sosmewhat angers me a little that a company that ops to send used consoles to people can't perform the simple task of removing old batteries prior to storing the equipment. Also a pro top, a dusty lens can also affect reading times for disc and as that console is so old, it could be something as simple as taking a q-tip to the lens so it's probably nothing other then cleaning.

If you find a PS2 versions SCPH-5000X, they had a defect where the DVD laser controller burned up the lens coils and self destructed. There's a voltage mod that should be done to the chip.
