Try and set the hook more to the side instead of straight up and you should have better hook ups when using the underspin. Tight lines brother!

I have a genuine question cause I've never used an under spin like that, but why are you using such lite gear with that. I would think you'd want a little more backbone to get that hook in good. Let me know if I'm wrong before I try one. Also, I would totally do that to my tool, I even leash mine to my kayak....

The vast majority of underspins have a light wire hook so it's a lot thinner then a typical single hook bait. That being said you don't need as much backbone to drive the hook in. You want lighter gear because it's designed to be a colder/clearer water bait. Sizing down in line size to decrease visibility can make a significant difference as water gets colder/clearer
