Nick is definitely insane for all of this lmao. It's entertaining but like imagine being a business man like Scott that did this super serious job and shat a couple commercials and a decade later you find some random weeb on the internet went on a mission to find you to tell him he liked a commercial he did. I would think he was insane too 😂

I noticed how Scott at first was seen kind of annoyed in doing the interview, but then Scott started to notice how interested Nick was on his history as CEO and his commercials and you could notice his expresion changed into a more lively and laid back one. It's great to see that Scott is as fun to listen as he was fun to watch in those ads.

I think Scott just doesn't really understand how people connect with KZbin these days but understood the parallels about his celebrity from when he was doing the ads over seas and how he's become a beloved icon in a different way these days on here.
@thequeenundisputed
@thequeenundisputed 2 жыл бұрын
Yeah, it was really charming to see. I think he started off a bit guarded, like he thought he was going to be the butt of the joke, or maybe he was mildly annoyed at having to take time out of his day or like this, or maybe he was annoyed about something completely different and unrelated to anything to do with the interview - but as it went on, it felt like he was taking real pride in the work that he's done, he let his guard down and it felt like a real unique and special opportunity for someone who is likely typically seen as some old stuffy businessman to feel like a cool modern celebrity. It was just really, really cute - I think this ended up being a special moment for them both!

This guy probably didn’t have a great experience with all the media entities shitting on him back when the anime advertisement thing first came out, and I’m certain he never dreamed he’d be shown this level of respect and interest for his part in it all. What I can appreciate from this is how Scott went from being anxious and on-edge to being more open and happy to talk about his experience. He most likely came into this interview expecting to be made fun of, especially considering Nick’s humorous 8 year adventure over this niche Hatsune Miku stint. Once he saw Nick was 100% committed and serious to knowing his work background, and commitment toward the company, he knew this interview was legit. Kudos!

To you guys he’s probably just a meme pizza guy but to us who grew up in Taiwan he’s the immediate face of Domino for at least 2 decades. Even to this day we still cannot think of Domino’s Pizza without being reminded of Scott “The Domino’s Guy”. I’m pretty sure it’s the same in Japan. His commercials may seem kirky in US standards but that exact kirkiness is very spot on in East Asia. From our collective POV the campaigns had been unbelievably successful over the years.

I've been showing this to people for 8 years, everything about the video is flawless, the implication that he's the president of Dominos pizza global instead of DP Japan, advertising something that only makes sense in Japan. To him speaking exclusively in English for a Japanese only product. It's a complete masterpiece, among the names of Hitchcock, Spielberg, Welles, Scorsese, and now Oelkers.

I found your channel last night and I really like what you do. I'm in England, wasn't aware of Scott's ad or even Hatsune Miku but I love the compelling approach to presenting these stories. I think this interview will show people that media in other countries appeals to their audience there in different ways. You can't really judge a foreign ad with American expectations and sneer at it like it gets everything wrong. It's about different culture, humour, ways of communicating. Like, how many American ads would take the approach of having a foreign businessman speaking in a different language with English subtitles, occasional burst of broken English, promoting something linked to American pop culture? Because that's what this is for Japan in Japanese and it works there in a way it wouldn't in America.

I'd been binge watching several of your episodes, and I was towards the end of your "Michaelsoft" journey when I realized just how many almost magical moments I'd gotten out of your work.
