Regarding the one rear door, prior to the introduction of the mini van from Chrysler, all full size passenger vans and delivery vans only had doors on one side. The door were either a sliding door or two hinged doors on the curb side. It wasn't until 1996 that two sliding door became a feature. I expect this was to prevent the rear passengers from opening the door on the driver's side and stepping into traffic. However, once moms became the principle drivers of minivans, the sliding door on the driver's side was a standard feature to enable access to the kids in the back without having to walk around to the other side of the vehicle to get kids out or to put them in. Love your videos! - Brian

I believe it was the third generation chrysler minivans that offered a second sliding door, the reason they didnt have one was for people who used the vans for work could hang stuff on it but without the risk of someone opening the door and messing stuff up

I'm sure that was part of it, but I also think it had to do with being able to exit the car if in an accident. You could get stuck inside if maybe the only exit you have is on one side, or if everyone were forced to climb out from one of the front doors. So having 2 exits in the back probably lessened the possibility of back seat passengers getting stuck or "boxed in" in the event of an emergency. Easier to exit the vehicle or at least having a higher possibility of being able to get everyone out safely.

My husband and I were both heavy smokers with both of us going through TWO packs of cigarettes a day! One day we just quit, cold turkey. I wanted our walls painted to get rid of the smell of smoke but I didn't want them painted until they were first cleaned because they were a nasty mess and though they were supposed to be white, they were closer to brown from the years of all that smoke. We hired a cleaning service to come and do a detailed cleaning including a good cleaning of the walls and ceiling. When they got through, to my amazement we didn't need to do any painting. The walls were gorgeous! That was about 20 years ago and neither of us has smoked a cigarette since then and some of those walls STILL have not been painted and they still look great! It's amazing how much smoke can do to make your house (and your car) look and smell terrible!

My mom had a mini van with only one back door. She liked it because there were 4 kids, all young, and we could only get out of the car on one side so she always knew where we were, especially in parking lots. She felt at the time it was safer because she could keep a better eye on us and make sure we didn’t run out into traffic, etc. (we never did anything like that but still)

We bought our first used minivan back in 2008. At our local Toyota dealership, we looked at two used minivans. One was a 1998 Toyota Sienna and the other was, I believe, a 2002 Ford Windstar. The Ford Windstar had only one rear door, but the 1998 Toyota Sienna had two rear doors. The Toyota was in better shape and more expensive, but I am really thankful that we bought it! The Ford Windstars were terrible vehicles and our Sienna lasted us a long time with very little problems.

The earlier minivan's followed the same concept as the full-size design of curbside only sliding doors, wasn't until around 2000 before the second door was added.

The transmissions in those were crappy. You had about 3yrs max from each. Lol. Back in 2000 I would drive my dad's powered blue/woodgrain one to school. While coming back home the trans blew out mid highway. Great video. Brings back memories.

This looks like a satisfying occupation. One of your other videos inspired me today to give my car a clean the best I could not that it was really dirty . Was just pressure wash , soap down , pressure wash, polish . Vacuum and wipe down interior . Took me about 3 hours and I am feeling the work now . Going to be sore tomorrow.

I love watching your videos! Been a subscriber for several years now. I do just have one little thing to say, as a fan. I know some of the vehicles you clean are very gross, but I wish you had a bit more grace when doing the voiceovers. After all, you wouldn’t have near the amount of views if people kept their vehicles spotless. Their mess is making you successful in a way. And you really don’t know what that person is/was going through. As someone who has 2 kids and mental illness, my car constantly looks like there was a tornado inside it. Do I like it? Absolutely not, but I also don’t have the ability to clean it like I want to. Just a thought and keep up the excellent work.❤

I’m new to the channel and I love your videos.❤️ I recommend cleaning top to bottom tho. For example with the arm rest on the drivers seat as you’re steaming the dirt is dripping down onto the carpet you just cleaned. Same thing with the door. All the dirt is going to go down so just a suggestion.

I inherited my mother's 2002 impala. She was a chain smoker. I sanitized the interior with product thats formulated for killed bacteria and biohazard smells. I mixed it double strength and sprayed everything with garden sprayer. I let dwell for over 20min. I vacuumed everything upholstered surface with powerful shop vacuum and sprayed again and again. Smoker smell was gone. I did all of this on a hot day. The interior was dry by morning and everything was cleaned.

My family had a 1995 one of these I still remember it and how many hours a year we spent in it. We used to go from Toronto to Florida in it every year until 2002 when we got a new one. The old one my dad accidentally broke the electric seat in it. 330k km and it still was running great. We sold it in 2004 before we moved out west in June 2005

As a teenager, i worked at my fathers service station, emphasis on SERVICE,! When some one came in for a lube and oil, lucky me got to wash all of the windows inside and out. We had blue paper towels and when washing the inside of the windshield i sometimes noticed that the blue towels had a yellowish color on them, i finally went and asked my dad why some of the towels had this yellow stain on them. He said the owners of those cars were chain smokers and the yellow stain was caused by the nicotine from the cigarettes., i asked if that nicotine wouldn't get into their lungs and my dad said it did!!!! That cured me from EVER SMOKING and i'm 80 years young, 81 in May this year!!

Such a satisfying watch/transformation. One thing I've noticed is the little cord that comes out of the engine bay. Is that to keep the oil warm? Vehicles here in California don't have anything like that. Just wondering. Good job!
@SevenSummersAgo
@SevenSummersAgo 7 күн бұрын
Hello! I can answer your questions about the little cord that comes out of the engine bay. Here in Canada our winters are brutally cold and that cord is connected to a block heater that we plug an outdoor cord into and the outdoor cord is plugged into an electrical outlet outside. The block heater is meant to keep the battery of vehicles from freezing up and draining the battery. Our winters can be quite brutal sometimes as cold as -50c! Even with my truck plugged in this winter I still had have a neighbor connect booster cables from his car battery to my truck battery and that helps to basically give my truck that extra kick it needs to start. Hope that answers your question!

I don’t know if you see it much in Canada, but in Florida we see a lot of headlight oxidation due to the long sun hours. If you see that, what do you recommend to clean/restore the plastic headlights? This never existed when the headlights were glass!! There are a lot of ‘home remedies’ on the net, but I’m not sure how long-term effective they are. I recently tried the white vinegar-baking soda option, with very little improvement noted. Thanks
