The dress is flattering to your figure even if it is too big. At $10 having it altered is still economical. And hemming a dress is one of the simplest alterations. In the next couple of months, you should be able to find a sweet little bling of a jacket to make you feel comfortable.

I really don't think your arms look bad, and that dress is beautiful. I've noticed that designer clothes seem to run larger than similar sizes in off brand clothes. (I've always suspected that that's a little marketing trick to get you to pay more for them! "OMG! I'm into a size 6!!"...when you're usually a size or two larger. ;) )

It looks like the dress could be taken up in the shoulders, which may be cheaper than hemming. There's no harm in finding a qualified tailor and having them take a look. You are worth a nicely fitting and quality made garment anytime, but especially at your daughters wedding.😊

I agree 100%. I was watching, thinking pull up from the shoulders and it would make the arm holes smaller and fit, and then the glitzy band would be higher and the dress lifted. I still think it will have to be hemmed as it is considerably long. I was in the wedding business for 30 + yrs, as a bespoke wedding florist and decorator, and my daughter a catwalk model...... so have been to a hundreds of wedding fashion shows. Been behind stage at rehearsals, and as a guest speaker re wedding floral designs. I am now retired. Several of my very dearest friends own bridal boutiques, and I have seen what seem like a zillion dresses that were designed on my daughter's body and have seen many dresses being fitted over 30+ years on many many models and brides. That dress Danni, is fabulous.

I’m in Dallas and would have loved to go thrifting with you! You did show me a great place to go. Angels Attic! I really like the black and white dress. So hip and in style. But yes, the mother of the bride dress is beautiful! Please have this altered and wear for your very special day! Very classy! Alterations are expensive so be prepared. But it’s worth every penny of it. You’ll need a dark silver clutch to go with or nothing. Dark silver post earrings. I’m glad you had fun in Dallas.
