We got up at 4:45 am to catch our plane Friday morning, and there was no electricity in the hotel!!! We had to get ready using the flashlights on our phones. We also were caught in a huge traffic jam on the way to the airport, so I was very stressed by the time we checked in. (I think this is why I forgot that I meant to carry on the suitcase with the breakables.)

You might consider using the Japanese art called Kintsugi to repair your broken teapot--it involves highlighting in gold all the seams where the item is put back together/ The result can be quite beautiful. Might be a way to salvage the teapot, and would certainly make for a conversation piece!

Edit: That $20 teapot was an incredible bargain! It broke my heart that it didn’t make it😢 Edit 2: the box with the brass hinges (at 29:03) might possibly be a candy box, I have a larger one that my mama passed down to me along with its backstory that a boy who had a crush on her (she was only 13) brought to her hospital room when she got her appendix removed! I do mosaics with broken dishes/pottery. If I were you, I'd use the pieces from the broken teapot and that broken plate in a mosaic. You could maybe incorporate the teapot lid too. It is a great way to use broken things with sentimental value or great beauty! The cloche with the taxidermy birds reminded me of a bar my parents used to go to in northern Wisconsin. The bar owner was a taxidermist and the bar was filled with his work. He had a big glass cabinet filled with tiny birds on branches. I found it so fascinating as a child. I didn't appreciate the large snarling gray wolf that was around a corner on the way to the ladies' restroom though!
