This is bad. Really Bad. Thank you everyone for reaching out and giving me suggestions. Unfortunatley its time to figure out what to do next.

I,m Cool with that . When you mess up then fest up . When doing any timing setting focus on the camshaft marks first. The crank dose;not care.You dig.Its the valve timing.

Call me old school but I find it’s always best to manually check top dead center at #1. I’ve personally been lucky but you can’t talk to any reasonably seasoned mechanic and not have Mr. Murphy be mentioned. Keep up the good work bro.

That's what I'm going to do next. Tdc with the head off, head, cams timing chain and then tensioners 👍

Just a FYI.when dealing with timing chains 180 out is not a thing. Number one compression is for distributor timing.

New to your channel. Are you going to continue the LS swap C10 build? In the next few months I am going to attempt to 4.8/5.3 Vortec swap my 86’ Blazer that already has a TH400 or TH350 in it, without having a shop do it for me. Happy New Year!

Why didn't gm(opal) make the head like the 3.5 Acura or 3.6 Camaro head. Guess the 4 ports remove heat quicker. Bent valves get top dollar on Ebay.

Question I know this is an old video but I have a 2017 gmc terrain sle I drove to the grocery store got back into the car tried starting it but had low compression the car didn’t go out on my while I was driving and didn’t hear any sounds like pop or anything could it just be that the timing belt or chain is bad ?

Hey man i hve a 2013 GMC terrain I was wondering if you know what the symptom of an initial cold start and the engine stumbles and dies and upon restarting it doesnt do it again But upon restarts during the day it will do the same thing even if engine is warm, no codes tho,so weird,idk if correctI'm thinking maybe something to do with the electronic choke on the throttle body what are your thoughts!?
@JovaniDanteGriego Жыл бұрын
The cheapest thing to replace would be the TPS. You can use a cheap scan tool to see if it is functioning properly. It could also be a dirty throttle body

This car, & specifically the 2.4 EcoTec engine, is named in the huge GMC class action lawsuit over faulty valve ring engineering, excessive oil consumption & a faulty oil warning lite. Just 2 of the affected vehicles are 2010-2011-2012-2013 Equinox & Terrain's...no recalls ever issued or any alerts announced, even tho GM knew about the issue as early as 2010, so GMC simply allowed owners to drive these cars while they went low on oil with no warning, until they died on the road. It's a freakin' cluster-screw for owners. Settlement was handed down as recently as Nov. 2019. My 2011 Terrain( bought 4/2019) simply became undrivable one morning 12/2020, with "0" warning. Dealing with GMC & the dealership has been a nightmare for me, & after 2-3 back & forth emails, I found out that GMC was only accepting claims for engine repairs until July 2020...barely 10 months after they lost the class action lawsuit against them. My engine blew up in December 2020, so even tho it was part of the actual lawsuit & SHOULD have been covered, I guess they don't have to fix it cuz' the engine blew up 5 months after they stopped accepting claims. Again, no info or warnings were ever issued by GMC. Repair shop has quoted me $8K for a completely rebuilt engine. I used to think our US based auto companies were good guys...but, nope, I guess they ALL have no ethics & no consience. I have "0" idea how I'm going to be able to get my car repaired. 😕
@migueltheimigrant3 жыл бұрын
did you fix your car im having an issue with mine
@christinafahey-matias61193 жыл бұрын
@@migueltheimigrant : No, I never received any response from the lawyer I contacted & I don't have the $8K to just tow it to a dealership & have them do a complete rebuild of the engine. The shop it's at has told me, they believe the timing chain has blown, destroying the engine. I towed, covered, & stored it in a field on some land my son owns, until I can save up enough $ to get it fixed. According to the law firm handling claims for the entire Class Action lawsuit, GMC would only honor claims for repairs that were submitted to them between Nov. 2019 & July 2020, nothing after that date. My vehicle blew up in December 2020, so 5 months too late. I guess there just is "0" ethics, integrity, or conscience in any corporation, any more. The whole situation is almost unbelievable...a complete nightmare. Whatever you do, don't drive a Terrain or Equinox without CONSTANTLY checking the oil! If your engine is still running, DON'T drive it, & have the rings on the pistons repaired/replaced ASAP! It'll be expensive, but not nearly as expensive as a damn whole, new engine! I have no idea how I'm ever going to be able to afford to get my car's engine replaced. 😞
@ItsmeBish5842 жыл бұрын
Actually the same 2.4 eco tech engines were put in 2014 and 2015 terrains and equinoxes. Unfortunately they made the cut off point at 2013. I had to put a brand new engine in my 2014 terrain denali only 3 months after I bought it because of the excessive oil consumption and faulty *change oil* light didnt let me know shit so my timing chain jumped from lack of lubrication and slapped around in the engine bay causing irreparable damage. Cost me over 5k to fix. This was a year ago, but now it's happening again!! even tho I have kept up on oil changes religiously my car is making that god forsaken timing chain noise again. I'm ready to set this vehicle on fire.
@christinafahey-matias61192 жыл бұрын
@@ItsmeBish584 : Wow...you have my undying sympathy, seriously! My fukin' car is STILL sitting in the field, as the costs of staying alive: rent, food, etc...has been a bigger priority than replacing the Terrain's engine. Wow...I'm really sorry this has happened to so many people. I see a lotta' these vehicles on the highways & I wonder if they've been repaired, if the owners even know they're driving a ticking time bomb, or if it's just dumb luck those vehicles are still running. I guess nobody should buy GMC's anymore. 😕😔
