I have a very small collection of radios from the 30's, 40's, 50's, and 60's (Maybe a dozen old table top radios and one large Marconi floor model from the 20's or 30's; the latter of which I bought for a mere $35 from a local auction), but I also keep an eye out for modern radios, speaker sets, or other electronics that have appealing industrial design. I don't buy them in the hopes of future profits or resale, but when I see what I think has museum-worthy design, I scoop them up if the price is right for my own enjoyment. :)

I loved the tube sound of the radios from the sixties. That's what I listened to until 1965 when my parents bought me a Panasonic solid state radio for Christmas.

Lots of amazing radios and I like how the collector displayed them so beautifully and organized them by era. Fantastic! :)

When I was 12(1973), I had a Panasonic Dynamite 8, I used to sit out in the boat in the bay, and play Alice Cooper as loud as it would go...

I love the back in time videos you do, I've had quite a few of the equipment components throughout the years and totally forgot how good they actually were. Thanks.

I have a 1936 Silvertone that belonged to my grandparents, and 1942 and 1947 Silvertones. I also have a 1940 RCA Victor which has an RCA jack in the back.I sometimes connect an Echo Dot to it and listen to old music or Christmas music. They all work. I love old radios! Thanks for this video!

I know this is a year old but it made me think about the golden age of boom boxes. The almighty panasonic platinums and the beautifully made jvc units. Would love to see a video on them.

You should come to Denmark and see perhaps the world's largest collection of Bang & Olufsen products, it is a retailer that has a private collection of their products, everything from 1925 until today. He also has a part from Scandyna who made the A25 loudspeaker, it was made in Humlum in the early 70s. and as far as design is concerned, almost all other brands come to look like the boss designs his lunch box compared to B&O

🎉 Awesome 👍 Cool Radio's...I missed all that with exception of a little hand held Nuetone or Sears...hand held the size of an 8 Track Cassette...and smaller... Then it was Weed lol... LSD...Mescaline... Psilocybin Shrooms...Richard Avadon...Art Neuvo...Art in General... hitch hiking to SF to see the Doors at the Avalon Ballroom... buying my first LP...Cream...Rubber Soul...Stones... Love various Models from the 50's on up... That was also when my dad bought me a 3 piece Silvertone Record Player with 2 separate 5 or 6 inch speakers, even had a dust cover... Man talk about be'n High Cotton ..😂 I wouldn't mind having a couple of those old units... There are some pretty sweet designs... Though I had my little desktop radio then as well again Silvetone...tuned to Dr. Don Rose...Tom Donahue, Wolfman Jack... Rachael Donahue...Thanks for the walk down Radio Memory Lane...

I like these commercials you dug up. That was it in the 1970's, especially 1975-1979, I even owned one (very similar to that GE) that I would bring to High School to listen to. As soon as 1980 hit, cassette took over and literally put 8 track out of business. There were radios in 1950's with FM, only problem in Mono, Stereo did not Broadcast until 1961.

Not sure what you base "best" on but a 1935-38 Zenith Stratosphere 1000z radio would sell for more than the combined value of all of the radios in that room. Last one sold for over 24,000 dollars at Bonhams in 2022

Hi great collection, I have a much small collection of classic British radios ( 16 ) 5 are Hackers , a super sovereign 1974, a cassette sovereign 1977, a sovereign 2 1969, a sp80 stereo, check them out on google they are all made of wood and metal great quality, the company collapsed in 1979, it couldn’t complete with cheaper imports from Asia , I can’t see radios made in the 2000s lasting 50+ years probably in the garbage in 2 years. Regards JH

Yeah, I once owned that 'Swiss cheese' as well as owning that black one with the circles in the plastic over the speaker. Lovely styling but hmm, has anyone ever seen that episode of Cowboy Bebop where they go deep underground to find the vintage electronics museum? They're just things and *people don't own things, things own people.*

see this is boring, because you're not demonstrating any of them. If you don't know how any of them sound, they're just heavy objects that do nothing... rather like my siblings.

When talking about the Panasonic TNT "Dynamite" 8 track player (T shaped "detonator" handle,) you said, "One of the best." ... I'll assume you meant "One of the more collectible (models)" because those things sound absolutely atrocious. In fact, they probably have the worst sound quality of literally every 8-track player in that entire 70s era display. For the best sound quality among those, it's the red Realistic- which, btw, doesn't "resemble" a boombox. It *is* a boombox! -albeit from a time a few years before the term was coined.
