The ford/Mazda partnership existed in the 70’s and 80’s, but in reverse. Mazda manufactured the b2000 pickup and it was rebadged as the ford courier. The partnership was reversed in ‘93 when ford manufactured the Ranger and it was rebadged as the Mazda b series

Unfortunately people don't appreciate old cars like they use to. I can almost guarantee most examples of cars from the 80s, 90s and early 2000s won't exist anymore in another 10 years.
@Shadow_Banned_Conservative
@Shadow_Banned_Conservative Жыл бұрын
@@elliottcarson1248 I think it's been that way since the beginning of time. I grew up in the 80s and saw lots of cars back then that you'd love to find in junkyards today. Lots of 80s F-bodies, lots of 60s muscle like Malibus, Cutlasses, etc. I'm sure they were all crushed at some point.
@elliottcarson1248
@elliottcarson1248 Жыл бұрын
@@Shadow_Banned_Conservative that's understandable, I always assumed cars like that sat in junkyards and fields long enough to get restored because recycling wasn't as common back then. I could be wrong though, after all I'm only 23.
@Shadow_Banned_Conservative
@Shadow_Banned_Conservative Жыл бұрын
@@elliottcarson1248 Today I imagine it's worse than it was 40 years ago because of the sheer number of cars that are sold each year, millions and millions of new cars each year world-wide. More cars go to the salvage yard and less room to store them as salvage yards disappear because of environmental regulations. We also had cash for clunkers more than a decade ago that sent a lot of cars to the crusher. It was truly sad as you saw cars that can't be replaced that were still running but surrendered for destruction. I saw 80s Corvettes, 80s and 90s F-Body cars, Mustangs, and 80s Cadillacs that all came in under the C4C program, all destroyed. As we move faster and faster to EVs, look for more classics to be lost forever.

@@Shadow_Banned_Conservative Part of my nightmares. Like at least some waste is used to refine steel... yet I just am amazed at the masses of plastics (and maybe rubbers too) that are not utilized for their mass and at least energy like some tires material is when smelting. I mean... wow... fruitcake fairytale funding of delusions on cocaine pipe dream laced with whatever mix..., and not the funding for resources that are readily available that might need some input and process infrastructure to get the outputs that don't litter and pollute.

Sarah, just get the rear subframe assy from the X-type AWD. That'll give you tubular-ish arms and will locate the suspension pick-up points. It's also a ford so parts should be cheap! You might be able to use a Lincoln LS rear subframe assy. Remember the LS had a 5-speed option too so that may open some creative idea's for you.

I had a 1998 Amigo, with the rag top, I really liked it. Drove it from Seattle to NY in 2002 when I moved back here. No cruise control, and that rag top acted like a sail while driving across Montana and North Dakota, it was all I could do to keep it on the road. My ex-wife ended up totalling it on an icy road one night, going too fast for conditions, spun it around and just as it was stopping it hit the lip of a drop off into a field and it gently rolled over onto it's top. Not even a bruise on her, luckily. Glad I spent the extra for the gap insurance that the ex didn't want to pay for.

I still have a B2000. The Ford/Mazda stuff goes back farther than most people think - everyone knows what happened in the late 80's and later, but it goes back to the 70's. The early B-series and the Ford Courier are basically the same vehicle - the Courier had an option for a Ford 2.3L engine. Also, the parts books are wrong for the radiator on an 84 B2000 - they send you one for an 86 instead(there was no 85), so I had to order a Courier 2.0L(same Mazda MA engine as the B2000) radiator to get the right part.
