One take on the I'm New York City versus You're the West Village. Taylor is ...a lot. She's big. She's multifaceted. She's sparkly. Etc. The West Village I think of (having lived in NYC) as being hip and cool but in a laid back way. Almost like quiet cool. Quiet luxury. And Joe kind of had that sleepy quiet quality and style.

Taylor _has_ a band (The Agency) which has been with her from her first tour --- and still has several people after 17 years. She's always let them have a shot at a solo, whether it was Caitlin on the violin, or Paul (or Grant, in the country days) on guitar (Mike? on the mandolin or banjo). Her live shows are always set up as a spectacle show, storytelling through dance as well as music. You'll like it more as you see more. and, she really doesn't care much about genre; she used to sing covers to fill in space in her first tours, whatever struck her mood -- Eminem, Train, The Police --- whatever struck her fancy. She was asked about what she was choosing, and basically said, if it _sounds_ good, it _is_ good.

It’s about Joe Alwyn the 6 year relationship the whole Lover album is about him Taylor has a place in New York City…He is from UK..West Village is the cool place That’s also why she says”we were stupid to jump in the ocean separating us…remember how I’d fly to you”. This was at the 3 year mark of their relationship If you listen to Lover album…you can tell they were struggling…she, as usual, was pouring everything into the relationship and …to me…she was already not getting love back at the same level. Lover, Afterglow, The Archer, I think He Knows, and Paper Rings seem like she is asking/hinting she wanted/needed more. They kept going for 3 more years and we got Your Losing Me and Fresh out the Slammer, So Long London, and How Did It End lol There are other songs to but….

Taylor owns a home in NYC in the West Village (She bought one floor and when the one either under or over hers came available, she bought that and combined the two floors together) and she also had a home on Cornelia Street. She talks about the tunnel a lot in Cornelia Street. Fabulous song. Very cool vibe. ❤ 😎

One of my absolute favorite performances of hers aside from the eras tour performance I just saw -night three in Indianapolis at Lucas oil Stadium. I’m still floating on a cloud! I don’t know if you’ve reacted to her performance of Cornelia St or Death By A Thousand Cuts, live from Paris… but you’re in for a treat if you haven’t! Fun fact, those are two of my absolute favorite songs and she sang both of them for her surprise songs at the Eras concert I attended -I thought my daughter and I were going to pass out. We were so shocked and ecstatic!

Go ahead and do the album version! She likes to play with varying the sound. She uses NYC places in this song; contrast this with London Boy, on the same album -- a string of London places. And, unlike the sound of some of the other songs on the album. West Village is one of the wealthiest parts of NYC (in Greenwich Village). Taylor has a home in Manhatten's Tribeca area; in other words, NYC isn't whole unless all the parts are there. (Boyfriend is English actor Joe Alwyn -- started dating in 2016, ended late 2022). There is also a West Village in London; she is probably referring to both (she is a poet!).
