I done the upgrade to the NH-L9i on my Zotac as well + i used liquid metal instead cooling paste. For the top blowers it is also a help to remove the metalic mesh for more airflow. For the next step i will also use the fan duct for the heatsink. To the point with the low CPU perfomance, it is only a 65W CPU. With Intel Extreme Tuning Utility i peak the PL1 Limit to around 100W, max out the PL1 time to 128sec + PL2 limit to maximum, this is a nice boost in perfomance. In Cinnebench R23 you can get 11k points out of this little sucker but it will run hard into thermal throttling. With PL1 time and PL2 limit at default it will make 10,2k points @ around 80°C on the CPU with 100W PL1.

If you set this on the stock fan + thermal paste with about 1 year of service you will get around: -9,650 points -thermal throttling (permanently) -temp stuck at 87°C (t-junction max) -v-core will drop so low, that packade tdp will be around 100W, even when set higher -noisy system Wouldn't do it again and will upgrade to the noctua system as well.

I’ve got a Noctua in my rig for the last 11 years, sometimes the rig runs for days, never missed a beat, I only just before Xmas, cleaned the dust out, and there was loads, re done the thermal paste, running like new again, I’m getting a beast of a rig in 2 months, and asking for a Noctua for cooling, stuff the AOI’s Noctua ftw 🙌

WOW !!! You absolutely nailed it for us ! 👍You took your time, focused on what was wrong on the Zotac, where were the bottlenecks, plus tips and tricks..little extra fresh paste, like better fan, what you could do, what you could not do..explaining ALL THE WAY 👌showed the proof with statistics of improvement and then FINAL summary recommendations = PERFECT. My humble suggestion NOW is to do some good research on ITX 2022 motherboards,2022 cpus, 2022 gpus, 2020 psus, 2022 coolers, and NEW small desk form factor cases, plus feedback from your global audience and CES 2022 announcements and then create the ULTIMATE and EXCITING small form factor (travel worthy) machine that will have 12th gen Intel, 2022 Intel Alchemist Arc gpu, 2022 ITX motherboards that have high speed lanes and ports so that ALL of US creators can pop on our desk with the beautiful small form factor yet still get MASSIVE results for our CREATOR projects (also to be in harmony with ATX form factor machine for BIGGER work flow projects). YES !!! 💥 MEGA thanks HUGE gratitude 🙏

Make sure to use the correct amount of thermal paste, which is roughly the size of a pea or a grain of rice. An insufficient amount might not cover the surface area needed in order to be effective. Too much reduces the efficacy of the paste, due to the metal surfaces being too far apart, and also risks spilling out onto the motherboard during installation.

@PietFox2000 Жыл бұрын

I wish this video was out when I did it, I was scared to death to mess something up and had no idea how to disassemble it! I got the same results, it's a little hotter but better performance. To get better cooling I got some external fans which are pretty quiet and get the CPU temps down to 60 - 70 even under heavy load. Great video!!

@@amysheldon8252 Hello! Sure, I got the AC Infinity S5 fans from Amazon, they are pretty quiet and effective. They come with a small holder you can stick to the fans, you can use them to tie the fans into position, but mine came with only one for both fans, so I could not do it that way. Instead I placed straps on the sides of the case which hold them in position. @@amysheldon8252 Yes, those are the ones. Temps on the CPU went down from around 80C while iddle to around 60C while iddle. On the GPU temps, the external fans did not make any difference. It's always around 80C. The external fans are as quiet as the Noctua, maybe even quieter, even on the max speed. However, the real source for noise in this computer is the GPU fans, those are loud!!! You can deal with this by installing MSI Afterburner and setting a small undervolt on the GPU, after that my computer got whisper quiet and reduced the GPU temps as well. I got the Magnus One 4070 and went ahead to order these exact same parts as for the mod in this video. It seems like they have changed the motherboard to a custom fan solution, as the holes for the cpu fan mount does not align up with the Nocuta OR BeQuiet fans. The mounting frame and motherboard has non-standard holes, and I'm not sure if they align with another socket standard or is just proprietary. Will be returning the fans unfortunately, but managed to update the thermal paste which has already given results.

Thanks for the great detailed video! I would like to ask for two things: I just want to understand if the stock chassis fans are the real noise makers or not and would it worth to deal with all that hassle to replace them? When I disconnect them I do not notice a change in the overall noise. And, did you deal with the weird noise coming from PSU like the fan leaf is hitting a cable? Happens to me when pressing start while there is a game running. Gets noisier depending on the size of the window. Thanks in advance!

@@AristhaCh In terms of fan noise, there is a huge difference between stock fans and anything else, I would say. For my case, Thermalright AXP90-X36 was the ultimate solution, definitely worthy. When running idle or not-so-demanding applications/games and with some fan threshold adjustments from BIOS, it is hardly noticeable that it is powered on. And under load, the noise is bearable. Another major take away is, it handles ramping up way more smoothly compared to the stock fan. However, for a tiny design like this, a room silence in any case would not be a reasonable expectation.

Hi, i love that little Beast even it could be a bit better. I just ordered it for 1500 Bucks. You may want to take a look at the msi Prestige 100x wich runs an i9-11900K and the RTX3080 with a small form-factor-Case. Would love your thoughts on that. Cheers and Happy new Year!

Waste of money for little gain... A simple (and free) case mod will get you to 58-60C under full load on stock fans and cooler.

Simply buy a used HP Workstation, HP Z640, or Z840 (can be upgraded up to 44 cores !) or if you have little more money go for Z4 or Z6 workstation, they normally come with good Quadro cards such as P2200 or P4000 can easily handle 4k edits...
