Welcome to TomFM! In today's Football Manager 2021 video FM21 Experiment, where I'm giving the SPL had a £1.2bn TV Deal. We're giving each of the 12 teams in the Scottish Premier League £100,000,000 in the form of a TV deal each season to see if they can become the number 1 league in Europe. The Scottish Professional Leagues need returning to glory and could this be the way to do it? The SPL has some great teams such as Celtic, Rangers, Hearts, Hibs (Hibernian) and Aberdeen, so surely one of the Scottish Premier League sides can reach glory in this Football Manager 2021 Experiment?

@@th3mysticb3av3r2 Pains me to point out that you're wrong. While not League Cup or Scottish Cup. They won the Irn Bru, or whatever it's called Cup making it 1 a piece in the last 10 years. So you might want to either, maybe, delete your comment or amend it to make it "Cups worth talking about in the last 10 years" or something? Beats being totally wrong though.

@@brianbru If you want to be pedantic yes, however a cup where you play teams in the Championship, league 1 & 2, i really wouldnt count as cup success for rangers. They also won thw Frwnch Friendly Fuckabout cup but i didnt include that either because well its not really something theyre gonna have in the history books is it. Rangers got pumped off raith in the final of that the year before so id count that cup as a no go.

Reminds me of the NTL deal in season 2000/01 when Scottish football was last awash with money. Celtic and Rangers each got £31m for shirt sponsorship plus there was the £46m Sky Sports deal.

this was a great video :) Just to point out, even "only" getting through the group stage of the CL and europa would be getting these teams a LOT of coefficient points. Especially when you think of a comparison between them and teams from countries like turkey, holland and below. You even get quite a good haul from just wins and draws in the group stage. And, as their coefficient rises, they'd get more places in the tournaments and better entry chances (through rounds and seeding.) Lastly, it's a 5yr rolling cycle, with weighting to more recent years, so by the time you got to the 10yr stage, where you made the comment about being surprised, it's been a whole new and fresh 5yr cycle, plus the more places, so regular group stage and knockout appearnaces would've accrued a LOT of coefficient points. Edit: yep, look at the final season. EIGHT of the 12 teams are in europe! Haha, that's crazy...

I did a save on fm mobile 20 with Aberdeen where I took them up a league and finished in the Europe places in the next season and then won the euro cup in the next :)

How about an experiment where the Premier League and Championship TV Deals swap, so the championship get tonnes of money and the prem just doesn't. See how long it takes and if the championship clubs can overtake the prem clubs

i know this video is over a year old but i just happened upon this channel..i love the idea of tinkering with the leagues and seeing what could happen. i have a question about this particular test (and forgive me if its somewhere in the comments, but i don't want to go thru ALL of them): doesn't scotland have some sort of maximum player limit for players 'outside of homegrown'? if it does, wouldnt that hold the clubs back from getting as large as the rest of europe? thanks

in my Queen's Park save, the SPL is up to 8th in the ranking seven years from now, but nobodys done anything in europe, including myself who are just mid table, which i found strange. I hope it doesn't go any higher or it will be nigh on impossible to overtake celtic and rangers.

i naturally did this with a third lanark phoenix rebuild. i got so powerful i was buying players and selling them cheap to the scottish prem. i only got us to rank 3 in europe. but it was enough to secure safety in those 4 group stage spots. was well fun. i got to 2032 and got bored lol.

Was interesting to see quite a few players bought in the 1st season got sold for a loss 2 years on. Also Kaio Jorge to rangers for 11M is a solid buy. LMAO Celtic bought Harvey Elliot in summer 27 and sold him in Jan 28, that's a fast turnaround, wonder if they made anything on that.

Winning one though and improving on their record of reaching Euro semis (well 2 anyway) and not reaching the Final. They'd've reached the Fairs Cup Final in the early '60s under away goals as well and, who knows what they could have done, if the European Cup had just come along a decade earlier, given that they reached the semi of the first ever one, when their good team was in decline? Bring back the Drybrough Cup! We've a 100& record in it's finals, beating Jock Steins Celtic in both!

I've edited my Celtic fc save by expanding the league to 16 teams with the division below having 24 teams (Championship style) 50 million TV money each club, 100 million to 10 million prize money for 1st to 10th. 5 seasons in and up to 5th in euro ranking

I think you need to play around with individual sponsorship deals, take Man Utd for example, they have 240 million a season and then add the TV deal on top of that. If you are going to compete at the highest level, sponsorship has to reflect that...imo

@@TomFM I did a save with a Belgian team, got Belgium into top 4 coefficients and very little changed with league deals and sponsorship for teams, even after 10+ years. It was frustrating that I could compete with young wonderkids who then kept wanting to jump ship to a so called bigger team even though I had the club at 5 star rating and Belgium were 4th in Coefficients. The money just wasn't there overall to be able to keep them.
