I know that many Amy Winehouse fans don't like how this song got remodeled by a child. I understand that this is Amy's song and her suffering and her pain, which she expressed through this song; nobody can take that from her, and probably no one can fully live up to the original. That wasn't Angelina's goal anyway as she changed the lyrics. But I can't understand why people dismiss this rendition just because they prefer the original? It's not an either-or situation. I think people who only value the original miss the point of music sometimes. If we just valued the original we could as well discount every Karaoke event for instance. Why can't we just enjoy this girl's music and talent?

Once upon a time, in the land of the Norse gods, was born a girl blessed with the gift of song. Properly given the name, Angelina Jordan Astar, she would listen to music every available moment, embracing the story each song told. Angelina was able to hear every note and vocal technique used in a song, then create her own version. Lovingly placing her dolls on the couch, to be her audience, she would perform concerts, honing her craft. The emotions Angelina felt from each song were deep and moving. She sang in order to have the listener feel and understand the emotions she felt. At age 6, Angelina befriended a shoeless orphan girl about her age, who desired to become a doctor but confided in Angelina it would never happen since she had siblings who needed her to simply survive. Angelina told the orphan to never give up hope and to always pursue her dreams. Angelina took off her shoes and gave them to the orphan girl, saying the shoes no longer fit her. Sometimes a little white lie is needed. The orphan girl, so thankful for the gift, asked Angelina what she desired to be in life. Angelina said she wanted to sing for the entire world. The orphan girl, who Angelina gave the name Princess, said she would pray every day for her dream to come true. Angelina, told her, when on stage, I will always perform barefoot, to remind me of you and all the children like you who can't afford shoes or clothes. Angelina began her on stage career at age 7 performing for her home country and went on to sing on big stages at age 13 and 17, for audiences numbering in the millions each time. With each performance she gained new fans, who Angelina calls her angels. One would think after performing for such large crowds, she would become well known among the billions around the world, but that was not the case. The world had become a very busy place, with countless ways of learning about new artists. Her angels were inspired to spread the love they felt by listening to her music and knowing her story, and did the best they could to introduce their favorite musical artist to those who had never heard of her. Many of her angels were perplexed why the recording company who signed her, was not promoting her. The reason is unknown but apparently part of this magical tale. We recently learned Republic Records built a studio for Angelina to create her art. Angelina will be promoted when the stars are properly aligned and not before. Until that time, each angel should continue to spread the love they feel from Angelina's music and introduce new people to her.

Not only is this a stunning vocal performance, she re-wrote the lyrics only the day before she sang this! Her mom said you're not singing THOSE (the original) lyrics. Not only did Angelina make it sound beautiful, she turned a dark, negative song around to positivity - love and laugh instead of black, etc. She's amazing, and a gift we don't deserve 🙂🙂❤❤

You may not be aware that Angelina and her grandmother sew together. As the story goes, she designed/designs all her stage outfits, starting with Norway's Got Talent. There's a video of her grandmother altering the pants worn in Angelina's "We Are the World" video. "Back To Black" was her first pants outfit. Most famous is the pants suit her grandmother painted for America's Got Talent. Sings, writes music and lyrics, wrote a book at age 9, plays guitar, piano, violen, flute, draws and paints, sews, designs clothing, speaks Norwegian, Arabic. Farsi, English, and gives her money 💰 away to help children.

When she wanted to sing Amy's Grammy winning Song Of The Year 'Rehab', again her mom made her change the lyrics. Instead of Amy's saying, 'I don't want to go back to rehab', Angelina rewrote the song where she says, 'I don't want to go back to school'. Pure genius on Angelina's part. She even had to rewrite a studio rehearsal of Amy's 'You know, I'm No Good', changing it to, 'You Know, I'm SO Good', in order to satisfy mama 'lioness' Sara.

Ponder the fact that Angelina influence at age ten was such that an amusement park was opened just for her and four or five friends. That an internationally known orchestra scheduled a recording session , assembled twenty or so musicians to record a single song and waited for Angelina to listen to the first take, to which her response was “Yuck”. A second take was approved by Angelina. This is actually historic, and we are whitenesses.

Yes in her description on her KZbin channel she says she had 24 hours to rewrite the lyrics. So she started writing them the day before the recording session and apparently was wrapping them up in the car on the way. I the video you can see her referring to the lyrics as she’s singing since she had just finished them. She was in Norway the whole time

In Angelina's inspiration and musical research, Amy occupies a truly special place, also for this reason it is a bond that listening to her often comes spontaneously to the mind, given the splendid jazz-soul connotation of both. Angelina has sung several of Amy's songs and often as she did here, she had to edit the lyrics herself, due to Amy's particularly raw language, however her versions of her songs are always extremely respectful and balanced, thanks to the wonderful passion with which she sings them "... the one who speaks to the moon..." 💛🧡❤

Angelina is very exacting on herself. There was a first take and she listened to it and said ‘yuck’. To my ears it sounded excellent but this version is little more on point with the rhythm as compared to how to orchestra plays it. I could hear differences but nothing near ‘yuck’, but she didn’t like her first run :-) That’s how you get insanely good: being very unforgiving towards yourself during practice and when giving a concert letting it go, because things will go wrong, ignoring those errors and enjoying the heck out of it all :-)

Now Angelina is "Old Enough"! She recently did an IG where she sang part of the song in the original version. And her sister, Juliette who is now about the age Angelina was when she recorded this video with KORK, about 11 months ago did a video singing Back to Black in Amy's version! It was the first time I had heard Juliette singing by herself and thou she is not on the level Angelina is, she is good and if she works at it could be a very good vocalist herself one day! Angelina's Mother Sarah Astar was not happy with the lyrics of the song as being too adult. She insisted Angelina change them if she wanted to do the song. Angelina finished writing them in the car on the way to the recording. My understanding is that they fit so well that KORK had no need to change the arrangement and that to me is astonishing! Angelina's roots. are in Jazz. She been listening and studying these icons from the past century since she was 2-3 yrs old on you-Tube. Also Angelina arranges, at least in part, if not in total, total control of all her performances. She has since she was 7-8 yrs old. She knows what she wants and gets exactly what she wants out of the artists and musicians she works with, many of them who are some of the most accomplished in the industry. ♥👣 Some have referred to this as a rehearsal and I will be happy to be corrected by someone who Knows but I suspect this was no rehearsal but a scheduled performance with recording this performance being the purpose. KORK is the Norwegian National Orchestra known as the Norwegian Radio Orchestra & I don't believe I have heard this performed with this arrangement with these particular members in a live event. She did do a live performance of "Summertime" with the full Orchestra. Correct me if I'm wrong. I have recently learned that KORK actually contacted Angelina for the purpose of this recording plus several others. I'm guessing National Orchestra requested her because of her talent and because she was declared by Norway as a National Treasure shortly after winning Norway's Got Talent. I believe this booking was arranged for the purpose of this recording. It's on her Album as well as others for a project KORK was doing. Thus the scheduled time slot. I'm guessing the arrangement was made ahead of time and each party was working with this. Angelina was informed the night before I believe and had the night and next day before the performance to make the changes. I believe she worked on it that evening but didn't quite finish it. She visited an amusement park on the day of and before the performance. I've watched video of her in an interview at the park with a friend. It looks like they had the whole park to themselves. She finished the lyrics on the ride to the recording session. The remarkable thing is that the lyrics fit so well they had no need to change the arrangement. I believe this performance was the second take. Again I will be happy to be corrected on this if I am wrong but regardless this performance was typical Angelina Magic. Smooth Velvet Perfection! ♥👣If there is a performance and a recording of it I'd love to see & or hear it. I know she did it live a time or two but not with these members and this arrangement. ♥👣

Angelina Jordan is my favorite argument for the existence of reincasnation. I even checked to see when Angelina was born and when Amy died (she couldn't have been Amy). But then there's Billie Holiday, Etta James, Whitney Houston, Adele, Eivis, and so many others who influenced Angelina and whose songs she has covered. Whoever AJ might have been before, she clearly came in primed and ready to shoot for the moon. And I love the way she includes the moon in her revised lyric. The moon seems to hold importance to her. Yes, Arab Man! We love listening to Angelina with you, and hearing (and seeing) your take on them! But I know you have lots of other ground to cover with lots of other artists. So how about if you do some combo days?! Do one Angelina song, and one of someone else! Yes, it would be longer, but you're plenty entertaining (and knowledgeble) to hold an audience for at least twice as long! You could even do the other artist first, and then those fans could cut out if they don't enjoy hearing Angelina's type of music (-maybe they would find they DO appreciate her if they decide to stick around!). As others have said she rewrote the lyrics starting the night before and on the ride over when her mom got wind of the orignal lyrics and would not let her perform it as written. She managed to so in a way that did not change one note the orchestra had to play.

There is a video of Angelina before she went to this music hall to record this song. She went to an amusement park with her friends. The park was closed but they opened it just for Angelina and she was with her family and some friends she invited. She did not want to ride the roller coaster because she was afraid, but she did it anyway. After the ride she did not feel too good. After the amusement park trip, they show her riding in the car with her friends on the way to the Music Hall and she is putting the finishing touches to the lyrics of this song. As someone mentioned. her Mon did not agree with the Amy Winehouse lyrics for her to sing and she had to rewrite the lyrics so her mom would allow her to sing it. When she got to the Music Hall, she was met by the Hall Director. She went to each Musician in the Hall who were already waiting for her and from what we can see she shook their hands and introduced herself and thank each one for being there to play for her. The comment from the Hall Director after talking to Angelina was, " it was like talking to an adult in the body of a 10-year-old child, it was uncanny". Check that video out.

I see a problem for you. Angelina is releasing dynamite songs so regularly that your one-a-week schedule is going to lose ground. And that doesn’t take into account the backlog of truly amazing songs in five or six genres that you haven’t heard. I’m old, and I love hearing Angelina cover the classic songs from last century, but I was completely surprised by her EP, Old Enough. Angelina could have stayed in her comfort groove, and that would have been fine with me. But she broke new ground in a big way with Old Enough. She is creating genres of her own, and she is killing it. If you want to sneak something current into your schedule, try Good in Goodbye or Diamond from the EP. They are like nothing you’ve heard from Angelina before-or from anyone else. Originals from Angelina with great music, incredibly catchy lyrics, attitude, and that voice that no one can match.

Nice reaction. It’s kind of misleading that her video says “improvised” lyrics which implies that she made them up on the spot. Actually she began rewriting the lyrics the day before the session. But still pretty remarkable for a 10 year old. The original lyrics were not age appropriate with its sex and drug references. She also rewrote the lyrics to Rehab.

At that time she had not moved to the US. So English was still her 3rd language. She was so good at it only because of the songs she sang.

Very good rendition, almost like listening to Amy Winehouse. But Amy had been through a lot more than Angelina. Yes she has a very good voice. All her songs are perfectly executed. I’m a bit of a grinch with this girl. I’d like to hear a different tone of voice, her own voice.

I don't like Dimash, too affected, too many octaves. I just don't care for his performances either. But I know that some people like him a lot. So when Arab Man reacts to one of his songs, I move on, do something else, and don't feel the need to bash him. Why not do the same with this young singer, Angelina Jordan?
