​@sebas_valencia Dude is good, but you can't expect him to solo push. That's just going to get him killed. And as a Frontline weapon, it's his job to hold the enemy in their base while the backline gathers clams to score, and they didn't. Dude did his job (and probably stopped the game from being a knockout), his teammates did not, which is ultimately what decided the game.

And I’m not saying I would have done it better, but it’s just my opinion based on what I can see from the match.

@@sebas_valencia The E-liter and Hydra Splatling are both heavy weapons so it's likely they simply were not able to collect clams fast enough. At many points they needed to either be more focused on being prepared for wipe out to capitalize on it than trying to get a wipe out or they needed to stick together as a unit and only half capitalize on the wipe out, playing it much slower, in other words they needed to use the wipe out to collect clams or take positions or attempt to score not to attempt all of the above at once.

Matches like this make me seriously think about who at Nintendo hates the concept of a draw so match. If both teams don’t score for that long, it really shouldn’t matter who made more power clams if neither did anything with them. As far as I know, in soccer (or football for outside of the US) the game doesn’t cut off overtime and just give the win to the team that kept possession the longest. I have issues with overtime in Splatoon as well - in some modes it can lead into 99-1 comebacks, but in other modes (cough cough I hate Clam Blitz) the timer is so short that it just adds a couple seconds to the game, which doesn’t matter unless the comeback push is already in motion. The ranked modes in Splatoon are definitely more unique than most shooters, but sometimes it feels like they didn’t consider the mechanics for anything above S rank.

The 20 second overtime in Clam Blitz is so short, there are games I lost AND WON that I shouldn't have, but the 20 second overtime caused that to happen.

I played a game like this where we were getting absolutely bullied by a CRB during a TC game but we actually won in the end! He went 26 or 28 splats... completely thought it was over for us.. but we managed to push in the end and secure the victory. I watched the replay and totally saw where the other team screwed up. Reminds me how important the objective is even if you’re amazing at getting splats!!

My personal scenario was at Rainmaker on Hammerhead where I was Heavy Splatling and had 29 kills and 2500 points or something but my team was playing the whole time on defense but the comb we had was offense and I was frontlining all the time and had to pick up the rainmaker every time

I play weapons like Tri Stringer and Explosher. They're harder to use in CB but can still work. The problem here was, DUDE opened up so many holes, and nobody else formed any power clams...

Hydra is only "backline" when you don't know what you're doing. I got my first X rank in 2 in Clams with the splashdown Hydra. My strat was "hold a position near the basket, suppress them with my range we will win"

Backline =/= immobile. Doesn't help that both the E-liter and Hydra also had Respawn Punisher, which typically results in those players staying back to avoid being splatted entierly.

The reason this happens so frequently in team based games is ppl assume everyone should be able to hold their own instead of playing in a way that helps cover weaker teammates so you can win as opposed to bragging you "carried" but lost. I think it might be the opposite in this case, the "more skilled" players are relegating the "easy part" such as clam collecting to the "less skilled" players which would be a good strategy if you actually had "less skilled" players on your team but because everyone is trying to do the "hard part" they go nowhere. In this match everyone was capable of "holding their own" but a lack of trust lead them to tunnel vision on trying to get wipe outs but their rush to do so left them in a terrible position for scoring or capitalizing on a wipe out at all.

I try to play clam blitz without a grain of salt in my mood because it can amount to: OK I'm in their base and I have 7 clams, I'll throw them down because it should be enough to help someone get a power clam. *I start throwing clams down* *Friend or teammate shows up and starts throwing down clams too* "Here, take my clams!" My input is: Dude does not throw the Clams back and does not This Way them. Some players will absolutely tunnel vision themselves into their role which is whatever their weapon/build is for instead of playing for the objective so pushing/leading them with clams or "come here" is the best we've got in solo. Also if Dude is the only one going in and he's the only one collecting clams, if he gets splatted then the rivals claim his 3 clams while his team stays empty handed, so yeah sharing clams is a must if you see others not seek them which is sadly quite common, even in X rank. Clam Blitz requires extra teamwork.

2 things wrong with your teammates: they didn't push when ya'll had clear wipeouts, and they didn't help you retake mid at the start of overtime. I hate stale games like this and I kinda understand the backline not wanting to push, being one myself. But that first wipeout made me so mad for you cuz i would've at least had a couple clams to give.

They did push but they were Heavy weapons so their push was too slow, the problem was they needed to have clams before a wipe out not gather them after or alternatively they could have used the wipe out solely to gather clams but they can only do so much with a wipe out and their attempts to do too much at once lead to them accomplishing nothing at all.

The same thing happened to me in clam blitz S rank, 27 splats to 5 deaths, and we somehow still lost. I look at my team and low and behold, someone had a 1 to 15 kd ratio. I don't normally like to blame my teammates for a loss but sometimes it really is their fault 😭

Been told several times that you should just focus on doing what's the best you can do in these situations and while very true I don't think it's right. It's a team orientated game, if your team doesn't do the right thing then you lose. Worse yet, you get punished equally for their mistakes in ranked and it sucks so much. 😔

I don't comment very often, but once in a blue moon i do. Most Splatoon games i played (Mostly in turf war and sometimes Rainmaker & Splat zones) 90% of the games I do the carrying.) All it takes its one death from me and that's game. Instant lose, just like that. I do sometimes do get a good team but most times they don't know what they're doing which it can be very frustrating. Hell, even it's most kills. Idk how since my aim is atrocious. I still lose and to the point where im not really having fun anymore, I either had to go competitive just to stay my team a float or lose. But even then i get unfairly killed by OP weapons or dumb hitboxes. This is coming from who's not even level 50 yet. Been playing the game on & off for 3 years now. Oof.

Highest for me was 32 on tetras, the only reason I won was because I had to break the tower checkpoint myself alone during an off time of slaying. Every time I splatted 3 players the last 1 of their team would rotate to splat the rest of my team.

This is not meant as a dig on DUDEs gameplay hes a better player than I am but for the sake of conversation this is my take on the high kill loss phenomena. Sure you can always get more kills during a match but objective is what wins games. If your teammates are neglecting the objective then unfortunately its on you to pick up the slack. I think that adjustment needed to be made to secure the win.

My thought was more so switching from focusing on kills to collecting clams maybe build a power clam and toss it to a teammate then go back to frontlining that way when you get a Wipeout you have a power clam to make a push

True. There have been times where my team was doing badly through.a whole match, making me a bit frustrated. Then I had to do some risky things to increase the chances of winning and sometimes it worked, especially in overtime. Sometimes it's flanking and distracting the whole enemy team, especially if I am using a weapon where it's much harder to do that with. Other times I may need to focus on possibly the backline opponent who may be causing the whole team trouble and my weapon may not be suitable for the job. Or get my special ready and use it behind the enemy team. Things I shouldn't really have to do to save the game.

True, there were countless times my team or the other team lost because one player was clearly not doing their job or not skilled enough, such as getting splatted too often, not using their weapon properly or for some reason doing their own thing far away from the action, being at an area of the map they had no business in.

I am a jack of all trades, depending on the mode, I use different weapons and my main one for tower and splatZ is the jet squelcher..? The blue long range with point marker and ink succ, I play it with the range in mind but also get in close to get some “surprise” kills, my best is A+ and almost got to S but my rtarded teammates made me lose the rank up matches and I raged so bad. Shit felt like a vein was gonna pop, and all because of the bots on my team

Another reason I have changed my ENTIRE play style to be the annoying Objective hog. I purposely aim to get golds in obj and only splat when it is benefical to save the obj. Don't care about K/D. EX: I will Kamikaze myself 20 times on the tower or at the basket to win with ZERO shame. 😅

I understand not picking them up when an opponent was nearby since it would reveal your position or when it's not the right time to make a power clam yet. @@Diego-wl7wh That number is more reflective of the number of matches you win not skill level, in theory the match making should keep win loss around 50/50 for everyone but it's much more random and if it is balancing around skill not win loss then it is entirely possible to get a slew of unwinnable matches that even the game knows are unwinnable, with glicko these matches would just serve to waste time because it isn't a "score" it is an estimate of skill which in theory doesn't change much and the number only goes up or down as a means of punishing/correcting an inaccurate assessment of skill; with the normal ranks however there is a pretty tight limit on how many points you get for wining and a static amount for losing. The most skilled players don't always win, the most lucky players win, lucky in the sense that they got a favourable match. Paradoxically highly skilled players can lose more matches than they win particularly because it will match them with less skilled teammates to balance the teams as best it can if there are players who's skill levels are 1,1,1,2,2,2,2,4 then it will team up the 4 skilled player with all 1 and so that means the team will lose 75% of the 1vs1 and that isn't even getting into how the weapons used can effect the balance and team distributions. The games are just very asymmetrical and as part of a statistical paradox that is hard to explain people more often get matched up with teammates of a lower skill level. If the matchmaking was truly balanced a negative score would be impossible because for even unskilled players they should be seeing about a 50% win rate.

CB is just a bad mode without communication between team mates. There is nothing a single player can do to carry. You just have to cover so much of the map with clams everywhere. I stopped playing it completely. Think they need to drop or rework the mode or make it League only.

This reminds me on too many games, where I could say "WTF team?!". THE reason why I stop playing this game for almost three weeks. Also this video made me think to not playing Splatoon for the rest of the year. 😐🤔 If the gameplay was not so unique and fun, I would place the Splatoon series below fighting games, my favourite genre. There did not exists the problem "team mates". One team mate would not be the problem. I even love the 2v2 challenge mode, but 3 others is too frustrating, when all of them did BS. The best thing is, after the rainmaker path video from ThatSrb2Dude, they start carry the rainmaker almost every time the wrong way.🤬
