I got a Bernina Q24 Longarm Quilting Machine!

Caroline, happy for you to have gotten a longarm on a frame. I have a Gammill Classic Plus on a 12’ frame with a hydraulic lift. I Love It! My hubby bought it for me new, in 2008, after I developed nerve pain and numbness from arthritis in my neck. What a wonderful gift!! You are going to love your machine the more you use it. I’m a little envious of the space and organization of your beautiful sewing/quilting room. Enjoy and thank you for sharing all you experience.

How exciting! Congratulations! I can not free motion quilt because of arthritis in my neck. My husband put my sewing table on bed risers to help me sew without bending my neck so much. It has helped.

Congrats!!! Your first quilt is fabulous. I also can't wait to see what you are going to do with those practice pieces of quilted yardage. I have a long arm, and don't cut the extra backing off the end of the piece so when I'm done with the quilt top, I can lay an additional piece of batting or interfacing (foam or non woven) down, top with yardage and quilt away. You can make so many cute small bags or pouches. A quilted piece 6" is big enough. I don't add an additional lining, just bind or serge the edges. One caveat: make sure you weren't planning on using that additional backing for the binding. ;-)

Looks so wonderful. I am considering purchasing a Bernina longarm possibly the Q20. I have been quilting a long time, but never have used a long arm. Excited to learn something new. I am worried a little because I could never master free motion. But hoping this will be a different process. Did you add the Qmatic? Love your set up!
