Absolutely incredible work. I love the big brands as much as anyone, but it kills me that they can rake it in they way they do coasting off of 50-60 year old designs while there are craftsman innovating and pouring everything into their creations like this. That's a 10/10 in my book. Unfortunately outside of my budget, but worth every penny they're charging none the less
@Guitar59862 жыл бұрын
Well said. And the sad thing is that they can't even get the 50-60 year old designs right. There are small shops that build much more accurate burst replica's than any reissue Gibson has ever done.

@Guitar59862 жыл бұрын
@@dakotaasher2196 Exactly. The standard for Gibson is "good enough". They know that most people buying their instruments don't have experience with the golden era 50's-mid 60's originals. Most players won't know how different the historic abr-1 bridges sound, how inferior the modern pickups & wood is, etc etc. Not to mention all of the QC issues on even their highest spec instruments. It's considered normal to buy a $6k Gibson that has stripped screw holes, finish/binding issues, etc. If you want a modern historic Gibson to be as close to the originals as possible then you are going to be replacing nearly all of the hardware and pickups with better quality aftermarket parts that are far better than what Gibson offers. Gibson as a company is a pale comparison of what it was during the McCarty years.

Having the trussrod adjustment at the heel prevents the headstock from having a weakspot due to the routing those guitars normally have. What I would love to see, though, is a way to cover the wheel cavity. Day to day use will cause dirt to get trapped in and it's very hard to get out and clean. I also think the wheel is far more superior than a traditional nut adjustment due to its ease of use.

I don’t see the benefit in the so called individual adjustable nut height. They look like to attain the next setting one would need to turn it a quarter turn, 90 degrees, that may be to aggressive in height adjustment.
@PaulCooksStuff2 жыл бұрын
Napkin maths. A 2mm diameter screw is ~0.4mm regular thread pitch (finer pitch if they really want to machine it). A quarter turn would be ~0.1mm. Example nut heights from stewmac measurements - Ibanez 0.15mm treble, 0.4mm bass; LP 0.2-0.3 treble to bass; Tele 0.25-0.5 treble to bass. So 0.1mm adjustments seem fairly reasonable, even assuming they haven't machined a finer pitch. If the 0.1mm quarter turn misses your Goldilocks sweet spot, maybe jumps you from 0.1 to 0.2 and your ideal is 0.15 (even assuming you can notice the difference), there's also nothing stopping you filing the bronze slot a tiny fraction deeper just like a conventional nut. There are several variants of adjustable brass nuts on the market. If they really were too coarse in adjustability to be of any use, I don't think multiple vendors would jump on the same bandwagon, and they'd have been debunked as snake oil by now. The level of precision engineering that Valiant does on their own bridges and tailpieces suggests they're capable machinists. The obsessive attention to fit and finish on the whole guitar (that puts some other custom shops to shame) suggests theyre not slapdash cowboys. It just doesn't seem likely (to me) that their nut adjustment is poor. They'd have spotted that issue during R&D and not fitted it on showcase demo guitars sent to reviewers.

This is stunningly beautiful. Very impressed. If I had the funds to get another high end guitar I'd definitely consider them! My only real critique is the headstock logo. It reminds me too much of a pizza slice. If it was just the brand name and not the V and curve above it, it'd be fine. Different font maybe? But otherwise just the pizza slice outline. Otherwise amazing!

IF THEY DIDN'T DO THEIR OWN THING AND COPIED LP, VERBATIM, IT WOULDN'T BE THEM. I LOVE THE LOOK OF THIS GUITAR AND IT'S GREAT THEY HAVE STUCK TO THEIR GUNS AND PUT THEIR OWN SPIN ON THINGS: PICK UPS INCLUDED. GORGEOUS GUITAR MAN. WOW!

Dear Valiant, Beautiful work. For not being my color choice, it still looks amazing. Your Logo is fine. It sounds great. Maybe deepen the grooves in the nut and make them fit the strings better if they really do ping around under hard bending. Nothing some nut files couldn't fix. File them down about half the width of the sting with the same size nut file as the string. Then raise them up for proper clearance on the first fretsince they are adjustable. I love it. Open book headstock would be all I would change. I don't like how far it bumps out. If copying Gibson is an issue, then a Matin like with a slight bow instead of straight. Or a Taylor like. But just following the line above the logo would look best. I don't hate it. I would just do it a little different. But that is just me.

That guitar looks beautiful. The craftsmanship is on point, those Bareknuckle pickups sound great. I hope Valiant are able to continue, especially when they make a guitar as gorgeous as this.

How about those no-load pots? I would like to hear how the no-load function changes things.

Great guitar! I have always had problems with a brass nut, pertaining to the pinging of the G string in the nut of my customised Strats and Les Paul Standard 2012/13 whist string-bending. I tried 3-in-oil, but to no avail. Great show as ever! Keep-up the good-work!

Valiant builds stunning guitars. I was thinking about one before the current terrible situation in Ukraine. If they make left-handed ones this could be one my fiancé will let me buy. We both support a free and independent Ukraine.

Wow, the build quality and attention to detail looks amazing on this thing. I think the finish looks beautiful. Only critique I agree with is the headstock. I don’t know why exactly but it cheapens it. Like the logo and font and shape have a feel of something in the vein of Agile and AIO or something in that price range. But then the rest of the package is like ten times that. Crazy awesome guitar! If there is a graphic designer out there watching please do these guys a solid and help elevate their product.

Was the guitar in the case when you tested the balance? It looked offset to the guitar body side to maybe counter the weight. Trogly has been working on his Buckethead. Did you see Buckethead had his signature model on sale on his website this week?

I'm at 1:44. First impressions, just out of the box, wow. That actually looks good. Not contrived or cheesy. Looks like its own thing and not a rip-off. Very nice.

The quality of workmanship is just amazing !! They even finish inside the pickup cavities. The hardware is also very impressive. I hope they can get back up and running again soon. I'm definitely an interested customer when they do. Very impressive.

Such a beautiful guitar with a lot of clever design ideas. I've obviously never touched one of those, so I have no idea how they play. But it sure looks amazing. It looks like they didn't cut any corners, but simultaneously, didn't put a bunch of silly nonsense in there. Most of the "cool stuff" seems very functional (e.g., that adjustable nut, the truss rod adjustment. Amazing guitar.

That thing rings! And it's absolutely beautiful. The only thing I'm not digging cosmetically is the headstock, don't know if it's the inlay or the shape that just doesn't flow with the guitar. But damn that thing sounds great. I forget what amp you use, a deluxe? Do you know which B.N. bridge pickup they used?

Did you check if they split the coils in a switch from the volume or tone variable potentialmeters? In the control cavity with the Fender pots maybe push pull anywhere? Comment on that and when you say just for fun you read the passive middle position from the switch there's a reason for that! Someday you'll need toean more about Ohm's law!

Can we talk about how clean those pickup cavities are?? Good lawd I have never seen that amount of clean.

Beautiful beautiful beautiful. Can't say it enough. Such impressive craftsmanship. Every detail is so clean and tight it makes big company guitars like Gibson, Fender and PRS look like budget quality guitars. For the price of a top end Les Paul THIS is what you should expect. NOTHING LESS. I do agree on the headstock logo. I think they should actually use that 1st fret logo as the headstock logo. But who cares! Nobody could really complain if they get a guitar made like THIS! ...................................... Oh and GREAT JOB on the fundraiser Trogly!

Sweet looking guitar! I really like finish. I wonder how the headstock would look if they put a cool V shape going into the top instead of the little bump.

Nothing but respect for the craftsmanship. Beautiful materials, great looking finish and the attention to detail is very impressive. I agree with you on the headstock. The shape is a little generic, and the bold logo could be somewhat more subtle and elegant - befitting a high-end instrument like this. Well done, Valiant!
