The same thing has happened with another KZbinr, Vlogging Through History a few days ago, and he got TWO strikes. It seems like CGP Grey is going around bullying smaller channels and smiting anyone who reacts to his vids.

Well it seems that CGP Grey has targeted Vlogging Through History recently. He gave two copyright strikes, without reaching out to VTH beforehand. Guy seems like a douche honestly. Especially given VTH provides some of the most transformative content when it comes to reaction type videos. I can't speak for your videos, as I happened upon this by searching "cgp grey copyright strike" to see if any other content creators had problems with CGP grey. Yours is the only other video I found, as many other reactors still have their videos up reacting to his content, some adding context others plainly just milking it for views. So it seems strange for CGP to target you, and VTH (of all people). Anyway, I hope you haven't received any more content strikes during your time since this video.

I found this video the same way. It kinda makes you wonder how long he's been pulling this stunt.

Its his right to do that

@@Redman_real Of course, he is more within his right to do it, but does that make it right? Consider that VTH has built an audience of over 400K subscribers. This is his livelihood as well as his hobby. CGP could have made his message clear without going to the "nuclear option" as VTH referred to it as. There usually has to be some big escalation between two content creators before a copyright strike is made. But CGP Grey did this twice, without any forewarning or attempt as far as we know at establishing any lines of communication with VTH. This is why I personally am against CGP Grey's response, because it is too extreme. Especially against VTH of all people, who I consider to be one of the few reactors who arguably transform the original content they are reacting to in such a way that almost turn it into its own form of original content. His analogy is also viewing each video as a text-book, from where he can delve into the topics with more detail and give his own analysis and opinions on each point within the subject matter (in this case, the video). Another thing is that there are other reaction videos from both large and small reaction channels that have reacted to CGP Grey content and are still up. Some don't do much to add their own transformative content and the reaction of the original content adds very little to that of the original runtime of the video.

@@Redman_real So based on that, this seems like some personal issue. I would understand it if CGP Grey had already expressed his wishes towards VTH that he didn't approve of his content being used in full-length reaction videos. But no such action was taken. Instead, he took the most extreme approach which has lead in VTH's channel being one strike away from complete termination. This is also coming at a time where VTH is already grieving personal losses in his family, which he has publicly talked about so that is not a secret either. Combine this with the fact that CGP Grey has timed these strikes with his own restrictive measures on his own channel in regards to people who can leave comments, and it leads me to suspect this has been some planned attack as he has mitigated the chances of some form of backlash within the comments of his own videos in response to these strikes.

@@IG7799-c4u while I agree he should have warned him couldn't vth have asked grey could I do this many scummy reaction channels rely on reacting and grey spends months upon months on his videos this guy probably less than a week

Well this video might blow up in the wake of Grey's attempt to take down VTH.

From what I've heard he *really* doesn't like the majority of reaction content, and considers it some degree of theft
@DinaricWolf2 жыл бұрын
I put a lot of effort in my reaction videos, sometimes adding in more information than the video itself. Reaction channels can help the content creator's channel grow because, in a sense, reaction channels are a type of free advertising. I only understand if a reaction channel uploads someone else's content and only says a few words throughout the entire video. I've even spoken out against some of "those" reaction channels.

Is there any chance that you could appeal this? Or do they have the right to censor all reaction videos?
@DinaricWolf2 жыл бұрын
After going through that whole "copyright school" KZbin forces you to do, yes. They (the content creators) have the right to strike any video that contains their content, no matter how much extra content I add to it. Very BS imo.
@luisostasuc81352 жыл бұрын
Reaction/commentary videos are protected under DMCA rules, and because you as context and don't just run the video claiming it as your own content it should not be a valid strike Knowing KZbin though 🤷♂️
@xx_shadowplayer_xx2238 Жыл бұрын
You are incorrect. Without watching the original violated video it is hard to make a conclusion on whether the video warrants a DMCA. However I can say that most KZbin reaction channels are not transformative and their content does warrant copyright concerns.
