@ronaldvanas94922 жыл бұрын
@@piercehubbard4086 Well, it depends, alot of death metal, deathcore, and metalcore is played on 7s and 8s, 6s too, but more strings allows for wider tuning ranges and the opportunity to heavier if you wanted to, so if you look at it from that perspective it would make sense to get an extended range guitar over a standard 6 string, ofc you could also get a 6 string baritone, but not many companies make baritones anymore, not that I know if at least, cos I reaaalllyy want one so badly

I have two. A Steinberger headless bass and one of those inexpensive EART lead guitars from eBay. I play both daily. They're fine. I keep those in my living room on small practice amps to just pick up and noodle with, without having to go down to my jam room and fire up the big gear. I really like the Steinberger and it sounds really good, has great tuning stability, is insanely easy to change strings. I just find that despite it's weird shape, it works great. The EART is also fine. It's.....an guitar. Plays fine, feels fine just not exceptional. It has surprisingly good features like perfectly rounded frets. Better frets than on far more expensive guitars. The action is super low. It came out of the box set up wonderfully, literally tune it up and jam. Downsides are the cheap pick ups- lots of hum and the neck is too dark while the bridge is a little too bright. The tuning knobs are tiny and hard to turn almost requiring the use of the allen wrench. In contrast the Steinberger has big, knurled knobs that make tuning much easier. Like most inexpensive guitars, the electronics are the weakest link in the instrument. It's actually constructed quite well but man does it hum regardless of what cables I use or amp I plug it into.

My first guitar is a Epiphone I bought just to figure out what I liked or disliked. My second one is a Kiesel DC600. After a lot of research, my thought process was that buying a great guitar gets rid of all excuses for practicing. Frets are perfect, great neck, sounds perfect, comfortable, etc. etc. And honestly, price one out. You simply cannot come close to this quality at their prices. PRS, Gibson, Fender, Suhr, and other boutique builders will cost you at least 1500 more than a Kiesel. I'm on my third and planning my 4th and 5th. I cant play for shit but I look good doing it. 🙂

Multiscale - no thank you? Why? If you have time can you explain me what is against fanned frets in your opinion?
@MrDmadness2 жыл бұрын
Multistage are not too hard to get used to tbh. They allow for greater stability. Ideally as a string gets thicker its tension is pulled across a greater range ( TOTAL string length ot just from the bridge and nut ) allowing greater tension which makes notes more stable ( especially noticeable in 7 or 8 strings.. this is also why an inverted headstock 7 low strings sound less flubber ) shorter range for high strings allows note to be tuned with less tension on the string meaning bends and solos on them are easier .

Earlier this year, I reached out to Kiesel to build me an 8-string version of my DC (because some of the options like coil-splitting are not on the current menu) and never got a reply from them. In any case, I built out as close as I could with the guitar builder, and ended up with a price that was double what I paid for the DC747 in 2008, adjusted for inflation. I ended up buying a used Strandberg Original 8 for about half the cost, and while I still love my DC747, it would be difficult to convince me to pay the new price for one given the competitors in the marketplace.
