Hi guys I had a great time working with a fantastic team at McDonald's UK. It's so easy to apply for a job there and it was really inspiring to hear from the staff about how they have developed in their career by working there. I hope you guys enjoy the video and let me know what you think in the comments below! 🙌

I got a job at McDonald’s as well oli. The difference is I was treated like shit, got abuse from customers and earned barely £5 an hour. I get that younger people might want to work at McDonald’s but don’t give your fans false hope they need to know what working is actually like

I worked at McDonald's nearly a year ago and I can assure you, it is hands down the worst job I ever worked. The managers were appalling. The training was practically non-existent.The way we were treat was borderline abusive. They took advantage of the fact that the majority of the staff were young teens who did not know their employee rights, but as a law student, I knew my rights and confronted them about it. When I confronted them, they played dumb (unless they were just genuinely stupid, which would not surprise me) and claimed the McDonald's policy backed them up. However, the policy that they claimed to have backed them up was contradictory to government policy. So the next day, I printed out the relevant polices, brought them in and quit (followed by an extensive complaint to HR and the boss) To anyone considering working at McDonald's, only do it at an absolute last resort.

Non existent training, damn so accurate. And then the managers ask you to do something that you haven’t been trained for and you’re supposed to know it already and you don’t so it’s a constant cycle of the crew MEMBERS training other crew members instead of crew TRAINERS or managers teaching you shit lmao

So I wouldn't be ideal for someone with schizophrenia and a really short temper ? (I'm Talking about me, as I need to watch what jobs I pick, according to my therapist and doctor, so if it's abuse and constant crap... Then it's probably not going to work at all)
@idontwanttomakeachannel5851
@idontwanttomakeachannel5851 4 жыл бұрын
the shit poster grower It definitely wouldn’t be ideal for you. The constant noise is stressful enough, but you also have people constantly shouting different things at you, which can be really overwhelming. You also have to deal with some annoying and sometimes quite nasty people, including customers who complain about anything they can to try and get a refund or free food. They talk to you as if you’re not human. It’s unlikely you’ll be working with anyone who enjoys the job either, so they’ll probably be miserable most of the time and will take it out on you by criticising everything you do. If you have a short temper, you’ll struggle to deal with this, as well as the rude customers. I haven’t worked at McDonald’s myself, but this is what I’ve heard from people who have.

I’m not fishing for sympathy here at all just trying to give anther perspective. I’m a 16 year old girl who goes to college and then works part time at McDonald’s most Saturdays and Sunday’s and then some weekdays on the night after college aswell. I do this just to support my family and get us by and to me this is disgusting, it’s not a joke to some people and the fact that he’s making it one just shows how privileged and out of touch he is.

Getting paid tens of thousands of pounds whilst talking to the employees as if they're lucky to be with you. It's obvious they all hated being with you because of how patronising you were being. I work there, this is a false image of what’s it like to work there, we rarely get a break, there’s no protective equipment when doing the grill or chicken batch, so therefore we get lots of burns and we aren’t allowed to go put ice on them we must get on with it. Also if there’s knowone available to cover you, you must keep on working, managers don’t treat you well.

I was with a friend one night in McDonald's when it got ugly . I mean real ugly. A customer requested to use the loo, but because the restaurant was near closing time , he was refused. An argument broke out, which resulted in said customer tearing the security door to the kitchen clean off its hinges like tissue paper. He then checked himself grabbed his food and walked out still swearing and abusing the staff. Happened within spitting distance of Downing street. Now if I could get him to do that to no. 10.....hee hee.

As someone who has worked at McDonald's, this is ridiculous. I get the message that's trying to be told behind it, but it's nothing like this. McDonalds surely could’ve done better with this promotion...the acting in this is hideously bad and he’s just out right making a mockery of the people that work here for a living. I’d love to see him work a 12-8 five days a week and be that happy making a Big Mac and McFlurry when it’s ridiculously busy during lunchtime/rush hour and you’ve got 20 other orders to do at the same time...

Oli you've had an absolute shocker here, very disappointing. I can't understand what part of this video seemed like a good idea at all?! I hope you took all the staff there out for a meal or something with your paycheque as a thank you, although they probably never want to see you again after you've totally patronised and looked down your nose at them, you can tell by their faces and body-language that they don't like you and I would be extremely embarrassed if I was you. It's sad to see someone in such a privileged position as yourself use this platform and your popularity in this way....I am absolutely mind-boggled why 6.2k people have clicked "like"...

I'm sorry but this video is so out of touch with the reality of working at McDonald's. It seems like you only showed the "best" parts of working at McDonald's. And I get this was in good faith, but you're probably getting paid thousands for this video while the workers are getting paid less than the living wage. It's not a true representation of working at McDonald's. You only did about 30 minutes out of a shift that normally lasts 8 hours, and the video completely obliterates the bad parts of McDonald's such as rude customers, being up on your feet all day, the stress of lunch hour etc. As someone who works at McDonalds, this video is almost disengenuous. I don't think you're a bad person, but I think your lack of experience and understanding really shines through.

@thenoodleshop No problem at all! I just think it's important to highlight that McDonald's, like many other jobs, can be both rewarding and draining at the same time, especially when you have commitments to your family and to your education. McDonald's isn't a terrible job, but your expectations of the job should be kept at a minimum.

@@getshrekd_7825 Obviously he's going to show the best parts, but there's a thin line between showcasing the good parts and straight up misrepresentation. I'm not sure why Maccies thought Oli would be suitable for this, considering that he's probably never worked in customers service in his life. Why not use actual employees instead of getting a rich KZbinr with a young fanbase to promote Maccies?
