When I bought my 750, I thought I could go without the case feeder at first too. That lasted all of about 3 weeks... The electric case feeder is a reloading force multiplier.

Erik, just wanted to say thank you for the effort you put into sharing your knowledge and experience. I have been shooting, reloading seriously for over 30 years. Competed for a while but life got in the way, getting back into it soon! Your methods and approach are informative and enlightening to say the least! Your video's have encouraged me to re think some of my techniques and methods. I have some 6.5 CM I will be working on soon and I look forward to seeing some improvement in my groups. Currently around .41 moa but I know rifle and round are capable of better.. Thank you again!

Good Luck with all your endeavors Erik. You are doing the right thing to measure twice and cut once with your eyes. You will make the right call either way. Think about a isolation that keeps the excitement from the press from vibrating under the scale. If they are supported by a common structure, it could affect the performance. Good Luck!

Just got a 750 a few weeks ago. Been loading 223. So far I've been pretty impressed at the accuracy it's holding on the seating depth. But I was coming from a red press so there was a big price difference there. I know in one of your videos you were seating in two steps for match ammo, and I would still do the same but this dillon is nice! Don't have an auto drive but have case and bullet feeders.

Anecdotally, I got Lasik several years back. This was not a cheap eye place and it was pretty darn expensive at the time. I love it. Pretty much the second I walked out of the office I could see 10x better. Over the next several months my eyes did great but I'd still have some "haloing" on headlights at night. Basically you get kind of a startburst around headlights. It never really effected my eyes during the day. After about 9 months to a year the haloing went away. I love it. I'm sure at some point my eyes may start to slide back into their old ways but I haven't had any issues and I probably have the operation about 8 years ago.

Erik, I got Lasik about 5 years ago and damn I can can see BETTER. I would only change one thing, in getting both eyes done the same. My left eye was pretty bad and I could see super well really close up. After the surgery, my right eye sees distance really well and my left eye can see up closer better. Not nearly as close as it used to be though. I wish I had gotten both eyes done for distance, then I would only need glasses for really close stuff.

Yes, clean it off after case is done. There is no neck tension variance, at least none that makes a difference after sizing brass. That’s the reason for mandrel.

My old man had it done, they jacked up his one eye so badly he saw nothing but red for almost 3 years; he can barely make shapes out on that one eye 8 years later. As a contractor you would know, the job is only as good as the luck of the draw of the contractor you get to do it.

As you well know, Competitive shooting can become very demanding on your time, fitting in normal life, domestic duties, time with family, also your means of supporting yourself, become a strict time management activity, and requires planning. It all depends on what level your passion for the sport has a hold on you. People that get some sort of automated processing for their support in the way of loading are unavoidable as an option as your needs and involvement grow. It isn't just because you want to impress all your friends. -Dave

I see that you are full length sizing your brass on a Dillon 650/750. I assume you are putting on some type of grease/lubricant on the brass and then loading them into the brass hopper. My question is Doesn't your hopper and brass flex tube get contaminated with the grease? Since you have set up other toolheads for other functions how often do you have to clean them?

Lasik is okay if your young and your eyes are stable, but at your age you wait any longer and you'll be needing cataract surgery. Get the step up lenses, they cost about a grand more but its worth it. The tri focal might be better. In and out 15 minutes and barring complications You will see better at night and at distance. So, to automate-ish the Prometheus powder charge dump you could use a stepper motor, stepper driver, an Arduino Uno and then a momentary switch to send the command to the Arduino to throw the powder. I have a block of code in Arduino IDE I can send you that controlled a few stepper motors on my DIY induction annealer via a momentary switch.
@ErikCortina
@ErikCortina 3 жыл бұрын
I’m worried that the stepper motor won’t have enough torque to cut powder kernel in the powder thrower. I have discussed it with someone and he suggested using a geared motor with limit switches. 🤷‍♂️
@jetthreat5000
@jetthreat5000 3 жыл бұрын
@@ErikCortina should be a non issue. My AutoTrickler setup uses a stepper motor to dump powder and it cuts powder when it’s needed to. Either solution will work, but the stepper motor direction would result in less wiring since you don’t need a limit switch as a stop function. Just calculate/tune the number of steps needed to dump the powder, hold for how ever many seconds you feel is necessary, and then return to the starting point.

@@ErikCortina I found this article after reading your reply. Not passing judgment just sayin'... Spray-On Lubes What could be simpler than just spraying on lubes? Well, depending on the type of lube, it may not be all that simple. With aerosol wax lubes (e.g. Hornady One-Shot™) you can do just that. Spray it directly on the cases, wait a few minutes for it to dry and start reloading. Wax based lubes won’t affect powder or primers, so any that happens to be sprayed into the case mouth or primer pocket is not a problem. But you must allow them to dry before loading, and dry times can vary significantly from product to product. For example, Hornady One Shot™ Non-Hazardous case lube is the same formulation of waxes as in One Shot aerosol, but in a more environmentally friendly solvent that works in a pump spray. Pump spray bottles don’t produce as fine a droplet size as aerosol spray cans, and the solvents don’t dry as fast, so longer dry times are typically required.

Look up Precision Brass Ops on Instagram. He had a 650 set up with a Prometheus. I'm sure he could get you going the right direction.

that you should check with Matt's wife since she just had it done a few months ago and was highlighted on one of his videos! And NO you didn't "chicken out" on the decision; the only person that should have the final approval is you since they are your eyes! I know of several individuals that are nearsighted, had the operation, and still have to wear some type of readers. Individual results will vary depending on laser equipment used, experience of doctor, etc. My advice is to find out the name of the company, firm, and doctors that the professional athletes (San Antonio Spurs) use and consult with them.

I forgot to mention that I have myopia and have worn contact lenses for 50 plus years. This past May 2020; I had surgery for Ptosis (droopy eye lids) which has allowed additional light and improved my natural vision. For the past 10 years, my doctor prescribed my right (dominant shooting) eye for distance and my left eye for close up work. The brain does an excellent job of combining the images and I'm still able to shoot with both eyes open. The only negative is that I can't use binoculars or spotting scopes unless they're a monocular style.

Eric, love your videos and information. I need some help with my 308 savage. I’m trying to reload for accuracy and I’m can’t figure out the shoulder bump. My brass seems to grow when I full length size . I have filed the holder down 7 thousands and still have +.001 longer than fire formed brass. What’s going on. Thanks for your time.

What’s another $495 for a trimmer? Remember it’s easier to ask for forgiveness than permission.

@@ErikCortina oooo interesting! Is there a breakdown of F-class Pros who shoot 6.5mm, 7mm, 30 cal, .338, etc? I do own a Ruger Precision in 6.5 CM and I have lots of fun with it. Obviously not in competitions :D
