Great to hear Chris Buck get name checked here. Like Tim, his passion for all things guitar just shines thru and, like Tim, he has so little ego. His videos are there to entertain, inform and enthuse. And, like Tim, his playing is just phenomenal - each time I watch either of them, I just want to reach for me guitar and see what comes, inspired by them.

So happy to you did a video on this Tim! Ed stated when Radiohead was getting into more electronic style music (OK Computer era) he wondered what his contribution as a guitar player would be, and then had a dream of creating such a guitar and had a prototype built which became the guitar he used on tour. I was fortunate enough to get the EOB Stratocaster as my first real electric couple years back. I own a few others now but needless to say THIS is my favorite guitar! Only bad thing I can say is that it prevents you from picking up your other guitars - its that cool & fun to play!

It shouldn’t surprise me at this point, but every time there is an exceptional track from an artist that really jumps out as one of my favorites on a album. Have you tried using RMC synth bridge pickups? John McLaughlin touts them as does Al Dimeola and many others. Acoustic and Electric. Here's what John McLaughlin says: "Dear Richard, ..... You have without doubt the most superior system in the world" - When I ordered a custom guitar from a pal name of Neil Smith aka Vegas Guitars. It had to have those synth bridge pickups. They make up the bridge and each string has it's own midi pickup. The pickups run out through it's own synth jack after passing through through some blend switches (blend/volume and tone) and a forward and reverse selector switch so you can change the synth sounds on the guitar on the fly. This guitar reminded me of mine, but I think the fact the pickups run to a synth (Roland, etc), that makes maybe 10,000 sounds possible using the axe as the midi generator. I wish I was nearer, I'd drop it by... Mine has an ebony fretboard!

@icarusi

You can get Sustainiac type sustain from a normal guitar, at fairly low volumes, using some OD/Distortion pedals and being close to the speaker. I saw Jack Pearson doing it with a Bullet Squier Strat so tried it myself. I tried a couple of Tube Screamers but an EH Crayon worked best. It sustained at lower volumes than either TS. The trick is to have sustain on 10 on the guitar, but play on 7. Just bring in the 10 for sustain then back off to 7 (or wherever the sustain cuts but the volume is still good) for normal playing. I got sustain on all notes, just like a Sustainiac, and I have played Sustainiacs. Some were good and well set up, some weren't and the sustain came in late and went too loud to be useful. I don't know if it would work as well with all guitars but the Bullet Squier of the time JP was using them, and EH Crayon worked. If I ever get an EH Crayon I'll try with some of my guitars.

I think quality music comes from a combination of equipment and the artist. The Artist's creativity is very important. A good guitar player can pick up a $100 guitar and make magical sounds. A newbie like me can pick up a $10,000 guitar and still sound like garbage. I've been playing for a month, I can do some cool things. I got a multi-effects pedal that helps. I noticed the guitar hobby can be expensive! It's fun and I'll keep going with cool videos like this to help me along.

I'll just sell my gear now.. 😂😂 what a great demo, playing, and a cool guitar. I play mostly in the country market, dance hall, etc, and we keep it older, or kinda the remakes from the late Daryl Singletary, as an example. Ronnie milsap solos are fun, and that demo reminded me of "stranger in this house solo". I've owned lap and pedal steels, but you just find out no benders, or just simple works. I had a sustainer type circuit in lap steel, very similar to this, used a volume pedal. Now after this I want to put that pup in one of my teles in the middle. With the 90s studio style chorus swells, those ballads, and simple triads, I hear a new way to approach good ole country. Thanks!! I think$$$😢😂😂😂

Ever since seeing Ed playing this guitar on That Pedal Show, I had been considering one . This is the best review of this guitar including ‘non Radiohead’ style playing which seems to largely revolve around loops and loop manipulation… The rosewood neck option should be offered by Fender . I’d prefer this over maple, myself… I think it’s maple because Ed’s previous favourite was an Eric Clapton signature strat.

Oh my goodness! All that sound, and you make it look so easy. That neck is pretty fab, and may be one of a kind?

It really all comes down to the musician. Tim is probably one of the best musicians and has the best equipment it’s ultimate perfection. Tim with a piece of crap guitar could make it sound divine. Talent, hard work years of experience and best equipment all in one.

Dude, Love's Divine was my first exposure to Seal. It was a hit in France where I grew up and it had a big impact on me. I still remember him performing it live on some tv show and just being sucked in. So cool to know now that you played on it.

Tim I purchased this guitar because of your video. Of course I didn't get it with the custom neck you ordered but the factory neck is excellent. I'm really enjoying the versatility with and without the sustainer.

Pair that guitar up with a microcosm, an astral destiny or slotva, and a good delay like a volante……….you can do the most amazing sounds. This or that matt bellamy guitar with sustainiac….the new affordable one. It’s a creative device, One of those things that causes instant inspiration. You can do so much with it. Get some of those ehx pedals like the synth9 or string9 or key9 and the sounds you can create are crazy.

Great video, thanks. I once had an Olympic white Strat, 14 years later it’s Olympic yellow :) The details on yours are very interesting, enjoy it!

The sustainer sounds like a softer ebow. That's a pretty cool guitar.

So the Sustainer is basically an e-bow built into a pickup?
