Have one more ash strat style to build. With a Jb Jr neck Jb Jr bridge and a hot alniico Ingle middle in grain filled purple just need clear coat now. And a fender super switch.. Abjx I won't Ave to spend 1400 either. Pretty darn versital and my current with a p90 rail bridge and two custom shop fat fat 50's neck amd middle is pretty damn versitkle also. Have less than 200 in that. I'm a lucky man and refuse to pay for a head stock. I'm totaly all for not paying these prices for the name but neither will replace or do what my sg400 epi, and Michael Kelly patriot premium will. And neither of those 3 will ever pull off a Tele sound. I guess it comes down to what versitkle means to us. Not everyone has this cash to spare these days it's getting worse also. I heard about this guitar and decided it would be my 50th birthday present to myself. I had to wait half a year to the day for delivery. I love everything about it. The neck is perfect, it does everything, jazz, metal, shoegaze, ambient tonescaping. It came set up well and absolutely flawless, and I appreciate it's MiM, because I could not have afforded a USA model. This Fender EOB is great for lots of music with the different pickups and a fair price.

I saw Radiohead in Southampton at a pub called the Joiners Arms just before Pablo Honey came out. About 300 people packed in and they were so good. Awesome pickup combination on this! At first glance I thought the neck pup rails where fattened for better better volume balance, because I did it for non staggered pole pieces on single coils for the D string (allways silenter). I filed 6mm dots out of 1mm thick soft steel and super glued it on the D pole pieces. Now the D string is as loud as the others. 🙌🏼😊

There is one other "con" about this guitar that maybe you can shed some light on. When you engage the sustainer pickup it negates the pickup toggle switch. This becomes an issue if you are using any other pickup besides the bridge pickup. When you flip the sustainer on, it completely changes the tone. What if you want to sustain using other pickup configurations? Is there a way to have this option?

Amazing video as always, Just like the Eric Clapton model that Ed's guitar was based on, the preamp circuit in the guitar has to be powered in order for the guitar to work. It is a bit of a nuisance but the advantage is that it acts like a small transparent, always on boost in the guitar! A little bit like EMGs or Fishmans or any other active guitar. That's also why you can not get a PU DC resistance reading...

A remarkable strat. Two of my favorites strats are this signature model and the Lincoln Brewster strat. Both are fantastic mixes of features and styles while still being strats; and neither needs or expects you to know or even be a fan of the signature players. Annoyance #1 for me is that I assume it's still a screw in trem on this one; I prefer a pop-in. Annoyance #2 is that 9-volt necessity you mentioned. I'd also add locking tuners, but that's just me. Great video and congrats!

All my stratocasters have a schalar super claw underneath it in the trem cavity, it adjusts with an allen wrench there's three Springs and I put the cover on you have to drill a hole in the cover to use the Allen wrench to adjust the claw but this way you can get the trim perfect and set it so it's floating you don't have to deck it and all that stuff see only way I found a set of floating trim on a strat without any hassles

Hey Landon I’m a Radio Head fan! But disappointed with the EOB. I bought the EOB from Sweetwatwer in 2021. I found the neck difficult to play…to chunky for my preference. Also found the SD JB jr bridge pickup too bright for my preference…almost unusable in position 1 I have now completely modded the EOB. I designed a pcb busboard with (plug & play) for the pickups and Changed bridge SD JB jr with a Dimarzio BC2 and moved the SD JB jr to the middle position. Kept the Fernandez neck pickup ..it is awesome!! Changed neck to a roasted maple 12” radius CBS head Strat with locking nut. Tossed the Fender Tremelo and installed a VegaTrem! Now it’s sweet to play and amazingly versatile. Think I might start a support group for EOB Stratocaster owners going through modding 😂

So glad I found this comment. I'm in the same boat. I got it for really cheap ($600) because the sustainer switch was broken and that was easy to fix but I found I didn't like the neck and the nut was cut bad so the high e string kept sliding off. It's in the shop now getting a new nut but I was also thinking about upgrading the bridge. If I don't like the way it plays after the new nut I'm going to replace the neck. Was also thinking about changing the humbucker for another single coil. Any advice? Thanks!
@derrikc9961 Жыл бұрын
Did you do anything to the Tone pot? I noticed it doesnt do much after 2.
@Spaceman-jo5mz Жыл бұрын
@@derrikc9961 Glad it was helpful. What nut are you replacing with? If you plan on using the Tremelo a lot keep in mind the string trees also affect staying in tune. As for pickups - that’s an individual preference thing, but if you are going to change to single coil - you may want to replace with a Texas Special in the bridge to match the Texas Special middle pickup. Again, that’s an individual preference regarding pickups as different pickups are wound for different high, mid and low values. It all depends on what sound you want from your EOB Strat. All the best to you! Let me know how it turns out👍

My fav band: Radiohead. Fav album: Ok Computer. Fav song: Paranoid Android. The Beatles in a near second place. And I'm a Strat player. So obviously I've consider to buy this one. But I dislike active pickups. In your opinion... is this a Strat worth buying even if I didnt knew Radiohead? (BTW... I hate guitar repros... but if Fender someday release a limited run of the Jonny's Honda Tecaster... I would sell things and get my hands on one... JG: also my fav guitar player... by far)

yes it's really fun and makes you play differently than othet guitars 👍😊🎸

I'm seriously considering to get one. Is that or wait for the fender repro of the Honda Tele... that in my dreams it's going to be released someday.

Of course the Radiohead guitar player has a computer chip board in his signature series. I wonder if Ed o' Brian thought it was a bit campy and predictable? He said after ok computer that the band was buying up large quantities of keyboards. It forced him to design his guitar to mimic a keyboard. I wish they would have just continued on the same path as ok computer, they were at their best in my opinion.

On…. It seems a little pricey for a guitar coming out of Mexico. Love the white and the maple. I also would hate not being able to shut the one pick up off and still use it. That’s my useless opinion.

Pretty awesome for Sweetwater to realize what you are doing on youtube. If there is one guy I really want to see make it on KZbin it's you.( I hope you is your preferred pronoun, if not then your is incorrect also). I put your Playlists on repeat when I leave the house. I know it doesn't help much but it keeps my cats company.
