Ah Alyssa, as we age grief becomes a constant companion. I’ve lost both my parents, my husband, my daughter, my cousin, close friends. A long terrible list, but we will all die. I like to think I have loved ones waiting for me. And one important thing is it helps us let go of believing we are omnipotent. We aren’t. Every day is a gift, and they slip through our fingers faster and faster.

Hi Lyss. I am so sorry for your loss. I to have had to deal with alot of grief. I lost my whole family and its been absolutely heartbreaking. Grief is one of the hardest parts of life that's very difficult to deal with. The pain never goes, you just try your hardest to live through it night and day. It's always there in your mind. I'm not afraid to say, that I cry through heartbreak, but it does help to release that anger etc. I hope your ok. I have some idea of what your feeling inside. Please take care. Your videos are great. Your awesome young lady.. God bless you Lyss. ❤ 🙏🙏

My self and my two brothers had to make a decision with our dad. He had reached a point in his cancer that he was alive but not living. When his doctors asked us to make a decision with his life support....... making that decision wasn't the hard part, the hard part was knowing we had to. As we stood by his bed , the last words I ever spoke to my dad was, " its time to get up or go home." I looked over to the nurse and gave her a nod as did my two brothers and she turned off his machine and 15 minutes later my daddy went home. Its been 6 years roughly now, I miss him every single day. There was no grief, there was no sorrow. There was no remorse . We are all born to die. We had a good life with our dad just as he did with us and others. We are all born to die. its how we live that matters. We get to keep our memories. And I cherish every single one of them I have of my dad and for those who have also died that had value to my life. My point Lyss is live every day like it is your last day and leave memories to those who you wish to and what it is that you want them to remember because the reality is that at some point, that is all they will have. ( yes I have kept material things of my fathers but its not him.) I do not need those things to remind me of the man he was to me. I don't stand over his tools and think about him or how he used them or what he even did with them, because that's all they are ...tools. what i think about was the houses we built or the camping and fishing or hunting trips we went on. The day he took my training wheels of my bike and pushed me across the yard before letting me go. drawing me the wiring sequence to my club house so I could put in in correctly. Material possesions of lost loved ones will never replace memories of them, keep sakes are fine but can also be misplaced, lost or stolen. Memories cant, no one can take them from you. Your true reminders are in your head and your heart. They are always with you .

@@JW-jl8iq People think saying " Sorry for your loss " is what is appropriate for that moment. I hated when people said or say that to me. My dads death was not a loss to me. He was alive but he wasn't living. And now, well Now he is. and I am sure he is fishing somewhere in Heaven, catching monster fish. How could I ever allow for that to become a loss to me. ? He can breath without a machine. He can walk without a scooter. He is alive and living. Its just not with me. But someday, Someday him and I will go fishing together and it will be as if no time has ever passed. I hope that for your dad as well. That he is happy, alive and living and a far better place than we are. And when your day comes he will be there waiting for you.

I watched every single video. I am impressed with the willingness to stray from the traditional expected path. I am by most metrics successful, but lacking the enjoyment of all that is around us, that can be unseen when looking through a narrow vision of life, and what success should traditionally look like. Inspiring, and inspired to widen the lense and see what's already there, that is unseen. This is not the content I usually view, but am enjoying this more than anything to this point. Congrats and thankyou to you for sharing this journey....it has value. Oh, and Rio just makes me happy...

I take some comfort knowing that every action, every interaction they had while alive still ripples through the world affecting others. Intentional or not, everyone changes the world. Hi Alyssa, One of my favorite poems is this, I walked a mile with pleasure, she chattered all the way, but none was I the wiser, for all she had to say. And then I walked a mile with sorrow, and ne'er a word said she, but oh the lessons learned, when sorrow walked with me. I have found the sorrows endured, expands my world to reach out in more compassion for others when they go through what we have been through. All the Best.

Sorry for your loss. RIP Jackie. Beautiful videography, stay safe out there. I worry about people , especially girls, out in these wilderness locations alone, there can be many peril, including a bad guy suddenly appearing. Please be safe, don’t be in desolate places alone. God bless you and your adorable scruffy pup, who is smart, and knows when to back away. Please listen to these words, feelings and reality are two different things, and they don’t often coincide. You could be out there doing therapy for yourself, but that has nothing to do with who else may be out there, or any natural hazards that may exist, separate and apart from your emotional need to challenge yourself. The belief that whatever you think is what you will manifest is not true, can border on delusion in some people. Reality is far less magical and romantic, it’s often science and statistics. I’m a spiritual person, an artist and a romantic, but I know that is me, and so I don’t project it onto the terrain set before me. My words are not to induce fear, just wisdom. With love.

It appears to me that some time in the past you must have had someone near you that had an extremely negative effect on you and that can be extremely difficult to reverse. I can say the combination of taking time to meditate and being in such a beautiful place in the mountains and desert for the last month is one of the best possible ways for you to get a new outlook on life and I for one hope and pray that things go well for you. Moab is crazy place. There are some nice places to get great views in that area. I love eating in that area when we travel through. Enjoy your time there. The greatest thing about love is the more you love the greater the losses. I've come to the conclusion that the more you love the world, the losses seem just that much bigger. It's because we care for something more than ourselves in a world that is full of lifeless voids. Take care, reflect and write the memories of your friend so that you can always reflect with a smile. Be safe. Prayers always, Chaplain.

Thank you for your words. You frame feelings in unique and thoughtful ways that change lives. The grief I experienced with both parents was so very different. Grieving began when Alzheimers began to take my mother's memory and dignity. It began when Parkinsons made it impossible for Dad to bring a thought to his mouth. Oddly, grieving ended when they passed. I love and miss them, but the freedom they experienced in leaving their tortured human shells was euphoric. I was with Dad and saw him leave. He never looked back. There was finality. Grieving is about those left behind. Often an uncertainty about our own mortality in this physically imperfect body, and no longer being able to give love to someone. This not feeling the love that immediately fills the void from the giving registers as a loss. Just continue to love one and all. Your friend continues to live her best life, but she is no longer here in this time with you. Obviously she is special, so celebrate her move to something better.

Wow! Sorry for your loss 🙏 i was in that area recently and the red rocks look like they were melted. Huge megalithic structures destroyed. Also some of the Arches look like they are petrified portals and/or ancient generators of some long lost civilization. There's also some very peculiar dark spots near the roads minute 8:30 that look defaced by dynamite. As if to erase whatever shapes or carvings they might have had.

Ok, so I binged all your episodes and even went back to the channel that was a pathway to this one. Oh man! I will be going off on a journey a lot like yours. The story is a bit different, but the premise is very much the same. Healing, finding acceptance of myself and exploration of the world. I have some time before I start out and hope to find a traveling companion since my old friend, my bullterrier, Angus has passed. Your channel has inspired me a great deal. There are so many people living this life and many of them follow you. I am looking forward to meeting many of them by chance out on the road or in a remote campsite somewhere. Who knows, maybe I will be lucky enough to even meet you too? I will be watching your future posts and look forward to your calming voice and poetic verse. Be safe out there, you are loved and your love is felt by all of here. 😘😘💕💕

Life can take you in many different directions and sometimes the pull is all at once. Sometimes it can feel like that pull snaps back on you too. Sorry for your loss. May your grief not burden your soul too tragically. Know that they have moved to a better place. We certainly do feel the loss. *hugs* Loved that slot canyon, they are so amazing. I only wish I could manage to explore them, but my spine will not allow anymore. I hope your journey to the mountains brings you something amazing.

Hey, stay strong, try to take into account that you knew that person, you probably had nice moments, and in an eternity we cant grasp its something precious and powerful enough to make us happy and move on. Good luck on your way!

Sorry for your loss and the sadness. I believe this life is not our beginning, nor our end. Consider those that are now gone from here, grieve for us still apart of this matrix like confinement and long for us joining them. Take Care and Safe Travels
