Every time I watch these fabulous videos I can’t help wonder why Slim only has 172K subscribers. He does such a great job with these near professional productions and I know all you out there agree with me. I find myself anxiously awaiting the next release. Folks, please tell everyone you know about Slim’s channel and ask them to view and subscribe. In my opinion he should easily be over a million subscribers. Can you imagine You Tube without Slim. I sure can’t. I am a class B van traveler and I will be reaching out to all my Travato Wannabes subscribers asking them to view Slim’s channel and subscribe. And please note I am not in any way associated with Slim other than being a long time subscriber who loves his work.

I live in this environment... 6:00 if the blowing stuff is super fine, it's a dust storm. If the particles are coarse enough that you can hear each one tinkling and impacting on your vehicle, it's a sandstorm. I'm sure people are relieved to hear this :) Love the interesting and peaceful quality of this channel.

Live in Midland, TX, work in Odessa, TX, we have wind storms in fall and spring, 70MPH+. Anything over 28MPH generates the dust storm cloud. At 70MPH the wind can carry huge chunks of pebbles, 1/4" diameter, etc Word to the wise stay inside until the dust clears, or you may experience painful headaches or sinus problems the next day.

Can I make a friendly suggestion. 🤓 it breaks my heart and it feels like someone is poking hot nails into my eyeballs every time you let that transmission hold that big truck in place. Of you would like your transmission to last and your parking brake to be properly adjusted try this. Put the truck into the park and apply the parking brake before you release your main brakes. There is just a pin holding your truck if you just leave it hanging in park and if that breaks, well that ain’t going to be any fun. Just a friendly suggestion, safe travels Slim.

As a transmission shop owner (now retired) I was thinking the same thing. I made a living replacing auto trans parking palls broken off by not using the parking brake on hills. It is an expensive repair. I hope Slim reads your comment.

Interesting to see the soil crust in your scrub land. We have the same biological crust here in undisturbed bush land in Australia where I live. You can always tell when the soil has been disturbed by grazing or other human activities here, because you get onion weed populating the area. The Goats, sheep , pigs and cattle of early European settlers disturbed this soil-binding layer and because a lot of Australia has thin soil due to the arid environment, colonisation has seen these fragile soil ecosystems disappear in many places. Apparently these soil crusts can also reduce fire intensity. In Australia, where these biological soil crusts are intact, the seeds of weedy grasses are less able to germinate and as a result, fuel loads are reduced.

It is such a harsh dry and hot environment. Creatures mostly come out at night. There is tons of wildlife out there. Just not what you are accustomed to. Coyotes, fox, snakes of many colors, lizards of all kinds. predatory birds, ground squirrels, burrowing owls, showy beetles. Safe travels.

I've lived in Texas for a few years, graduated HS there. Two weeks later I boarded a plane to San Francisco and lived in Berkeley, right near the corner of Ashby and Telegraph, during the 1970's. Just needed a change to balance my head. Then I decided I wanted to travel some more, and joined the NAVY. The irony is that my first duty station was at some bombing ranges out in the Nevada desert!! I'd look out over the desert, watch the sage brush and jackrabbits blow by me, and wonder what the heck I did to deserve this??!!? After about 6 months I decided I'd need to enjoy the nature and what the desert has to offer, or I was going to die from alcohol poisoning!! Seems like I'd really decided I loved the desert, the sunsets, the barren landscape, and it was time to transfer to a new duty station. I tell ya, I can sure live without that 120 degree temperatures.

A few months back we bought a 2wd Ford Ranger. It is supposed to be able to tow 7500 lbs. We live in Iowa. On the 13th of this month we bought a new Casita camper (Independence) which we drove down to Texas to pickup. Driving down to Texas the best gas mileage we got was 28 mpg, driving back pulling the camper the best we got was 17 mpg. Of course when we drove back we got hit by that storm and we were either driving in the Oklahoma foot hills (we had to go that way to traverse Dallas. I had driven through Dallas last August and wasn't willing to pull a camper through it.) or driving right into a strong northern wind. Future trips will pin down what gas mileage we can expect.

I just love how you do your videos and how you narrate them. So enjoyable to watch. And really get the feeling of being there with you. Yes I agree with you on the subject of people dumping trash. I’ve seen it first had it is so sad. That pile looks a bit strange it makes you wonder hhmmmm.

Thanks for taking us along for the ride Slim. So far it has been a really interesting trip to somewhere I would probably never visit.

At least there’s no tornadoes, living in Oklahoma it was always a threat of tornadoes with every storm. I developed anxiety living in that environment for a few years and just couldn’t live in that type of environment anymore so I moved back to Arizona where I belong.😊💜💚

Me being the curious person I would’ve taken the cell phone and looked for a sd card just to see what the pictures were on it. But that’s just me like the same goes. Curiosity killed the cat. And as always, I thoroughly enjoy your videos. Thank you for taking me along on your travels. I’ve got to get myself one of those drones like you have such a cool thing that you can get it to follow you lol.

That looks more like what I do when I find garbage but can't haul it all out, I gather it up in one pile so it's somewhat isolated and if I return it's ready to go.

Also not everything is someone littering, packrats like to take things from unsuspecting campers as well.

OK that was kind of cool if you get shots of yourself going up the Sandune. I’m not sure how you did it but it looks cool.

Glad you found someone to replace that exhaust hanger. Last time mine broke my Mom fixed it. Took her about 5 minutes

Hey Slim, if you can source an air dam or DIY one for the front of your truck and maybe add some spring helpers to the back to level it up, it might make a difference in your MPG. The less air going under your truck, the better. Have a good one!

Yes Tator, irritates me to no end when people disrespect Mother Earth! I pick up crap that lazy people dump! How hard is it to appreciate the beauty of the land! Thanks for being respectful to nature! ❤

Either someone was there with you walking behind you on the trail or you have a drone following you that didn't make any noise as you were walking. That's pretty cool!

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, I appreciate your unusual travel and camping selections, while I would most likely not chose such a destination I admire how you find a positive most everywhere you venture. Thanks for your videos, I'll keep watching. THOMAS

Thankfully Slim's notifications still work as designed! Thx Slim a nice start to the Monday safe travels! How exactly did you film 15:40 footage, with the drone, and if so how did you control it? If automated that is a great addition to the cinematography Slim Well done! Of course answer is optional just curious! Ty

He has a video on it. It’s a small drone that automatically follows him and is really cool!
