Honestly, I really appreciate short book hauls. I feel so overwhelmed when people do a 40+ books hauls. I have about 8 or so books that I bought or were gifted and I feel like I need to hurry up and finish those ASAP lol.

It's raw but not like soul crushing in a way that books like A Little Life may be, however it's nonfiction so things may hit harder nonetheless. For me, I absolutely loved it bc the way the author tackled all the themes and her situation was so eloquent, pointing out all the ways the system and this society fails us. I don't know if I'll ever resonate and love a memoir as much as I loved this one.

I'm listening to the audio book rn and the first chapter I sobbed pretty much thru all of it. It's definitely heavy, I've cried so much listening to Chanel tell her story. Her writing is beautiful.

ellias i just got summer sons from my library!! i can’t wait to read it based on your recommendation 🥳 my other loan from the library right now is dark rise also thanks to you! looking forward to it. & don’t be so hard on yourself, i for one appreciate hearing you talk about books, even your re-summaries. 🖤 my favorite book i’ve read lately was a ya sci fi thriller called the darkness outside us. it was extremely intense- i was pacing my house while listening to the audiobook. 😅 a super tense but really enjoyable read. i have read maybe 2 sci fi books in my life so this was out of my comfort zone and it really delighted me how much i enjoyed it! to seeking 🥂

yeeeeah the writing style is a bit jarring and Jade’s head is such a wild place to spend time in lol…I actually ended up liking it but OOF I can see why it’s contentious. I listened and physically read at the same time, which I think helped a lot!! also it’s basically like an ode to slashers so maybe you’ll love it for that aspect?
