I'm with you in that an ending can make or break a book. In my case it's thrillers. If a thriller has a terrible ending, it ruins the book for me. I've been known to throw books across the room when the ending is specifically atrocious.

I've cried multiple times at Heartstopper. It hit me in the feels quite a few times. Especially the whole slowly coming to terms with sexuality and tackling eating disorders. I think it helps that I'm also from the UK cos i could relate to the school and family life.

Heartstopper was a direct reflection of my experiences, and i fell in love almost immediately. Thats probably why its so loved! I also just startes The House on the Cerulean Sea, and your review/reaction is making me so excited to get into it!

I love (?) how due to Corona everyone read double the things they usually read in 6 months or read nothing at all. Also, The House in The Cerulean Sea is such a delightful book. I had no idea I needed this before, but stories with mature characters that experience adventure, whimsy, and magic are bringing me so much joy.

I'm glad you thought so highly of The Girl With The Louding Voice. I wondered how people would react to the version of English the book was written in, and I read it with the audiobook which i highly recommend to anyone that struggles with the language in this book. Agree with you about the ending though....I hate when things aren't wrapped up all nicely after rooting for Adunnni for so long!!
