Ty for sharing your journey. Mine started November 11. Wow is all I’ve got to say! You find out who’s on your team when you are in the valley. It’s more than surgery, it’s mental and lots of hard work!!! ACL completely torn, meniscus 10% shaved off. Good times! Your videos have been a blessing. Ty!

I twisted my knee very badly in 2004. Diagnosed by a pro soccer club physio and orthopaedic surgeon that it was a torn meniscus. 2 months later I had the lateral meniscus trimmed. 3 months later i was in agony and diagnosed, what had been originally, a grade 3 MCL tear. This wasnt addressed, I was injected 3 times and put in a cast. Then i had an exploration of the MCL, slashes were made in the MCL to allow it to heal, made it more unstable! Then the ACL snapped, had ACL op that was botched, knee buckled and PLC tore! Had to have the graft taken out and holes filled with bone and revision ACL using patella tendon. Thats been amazing. Then i had 4 MCL reconstructions, and then one with a graft. Knee is now as good as new after 11 ops! Advice...everyone is different, when picking a specialist get on e that does 150+ ACL ops a year. GOOD LUCK EVERYONE.

People vastly underestimate how long it truly takes to recover from this surgery... 5 months is nothing. Also the variability between different people and there reliance on feedback from the acl... it's not the same story for everyone by any means.

I know you know this but remember you are in the perfect spot for your recovery! Keep it up and knowing you, with patients and hard work you will get back to 100% before you know it!

I'm close to 3 months post op from ACL reconstruction(Patellar Autograft) and Medial Mensicus trim. My recovery has been absolutely fantastic besides one issue that has been bothersome and it's this odd feeling that I get inside my knee and Patellar whenever I bend my knee to walk, do standing hamstring curls, heel slides etc etc. The best way to describe the feeling is that there's something inside of my knee not syncing up with my movement so it retracts slowly or delayed ? and it causes an odd sensation.

I’m 5 weeks post op and have been having stiffness, swelling, and aching/throbbing around where my incision was but under the skin the past few days. I’m stuck at 85 on flexion so I’ve been worried that something wrong. I think I haven’t been patient enough and have been pushing myself too hard.

Hello bro. I seem to have the same issue as you, I actually had surgery for my ACL, PCL, MCL and Medial Meniscus way back in September 2019 after football injury in July 2019. Rehab has been slow and frustrating due to Covid however I’ve got to the point where I can almost do all my usual movements etc after a lot of hard work with my PT. I’ve been feeling really confident after overloading the last few months with my training and cutting movements, full sprinting etc, however I cut too sharply last week and collapsed for the first time since I’ve felt good and confident. I’ve made a really quick recovery so doubt it’s anything to actually worry about, but mentally I have absolutely no confidence in my knee again. Just wondering if there’s anything you can suggest to help me? Been watching you on insta since 2019 when I got my injury and have been using a load of your exercises already! Thanks man

Appreciate the support and sorry to hear about your injury! I definitely recommend getting a PT to properly evaluate you and figure out the best course of action.

I m in 8th week. Found the pain in fron of the knee when changing from straight to bend knee. Also some limit in both full leg hyperextension and knee flexion. Surgeon wants to do steroid injection but I do not want. Trying on manual massage and walking more in the swimming pool. Later, may have to do MRI to confirm the assumption of scar tissue before decided to injection something I find that this happens because no mobility since beginning stage like week 2-4. 😢

Any reason why you still had buckling once every two weeks? And, have you noticed buckling since especially while pivoting movements? Thanks.

I actually got an mri 9 months post op because i was experiencing locking, missing degrees of flexion and quad deficiency. Strength wasn’t lacking but explosion definitely has been. Turns out i have a cyclops lesion and hopefully I’ll be fully back afterwards.

@Reynaldo Maxwell That's great to hear. I am lacking a fair bit of extension while my flexion is coming along well. I have a feeling it's a cyclops lesion just like yours. I am seeing my surgeon next week and will ask him for an MRI to see what exactly it might be. What advice do you have with your Cyclops Lesion experience? I for one still can't walk properly even though I can squat with depth and ride the exercise bike for 20 mins on strong intensity. Yet I still walk with a limp cos I literally can't straighten my knee for each footstep.

My daughter had ACL surgery almost 2 years ago and just had about 10% medial meniscus removal in January and now has persistent discomfort on medial side of knee. PT thinks it is MCL. Any thoughts?

If there was no trauma I find it hard to believe it’d be the MCL. Is your daughter an athlete and is her current PT a specialist or generalist?
