I wish I found your video earlier. I have battled for 5 months after acl and mcl surgery to regain extension even using extensive long duration weighted stretching everyday. My physio and bio said it's fine and it will improve with time. I watched this video last week and immediately booked an appointment with my ortho. Just had a clean out today for a cyclops and an hour after my op I can stand with full hyper extention. I can also fully Ingage my quad. I had all the cyclops symptoms you discribed. Thanks you saved me further wasted months of rehab. For ever grateful.

@@ACLacademy How long would you recommend staying away from weight bearing exercises after cyclops removal surgery. I was around 5.5 months post op for full tear of acl and mcl surgery before my second surgery.

How long are you there with crutches and rails? And do you then have to train diffraction and stretching again?

Thank you, very interesting! After I had my acl reconstruction, I had a period of about 10 days until I started my physio sessions and extention drills. It surely affected my recovery as i couldnt get to full extention and had major pain trying get to there. 4 months after the surgery we decided it was enough time to get a second MRI which showed there is a cyclops lession indeed. Very important to start working from day 1 on the extention.

Hi Dr Kaan, My extension is perfect, but I lack ROM on the flexion side. Am I right that Cyclop's lesion is more likely to be present if the knee extension is not full/affected? Thank you!

you are correct. how far out from surgery are you, and what is your flexion motion measurement?

I'm just now 5 weeks out, I am having issues getting to full extension and, the pain seems to be more in the back when I try to push it, but it's kinda hard to tell. Wondering if I should be concerned

My patella feels a bit low. 5 months acl mcl pcl post op autograft. Stiffness. Rom only 105. Is it cyclops lesion? Its been stuck at this range for a while.

cyclops lesion usually prevent extension.

I’m seven months old and I’ve been feeling this in my surgeon I finally got a second opinion and I’m waiting on the MRI. I feel like I have this hopefully once I get is clean now I can make that negative jump in return to play.

Hi please reply if you are free , I had ACLR 40 days ago , i am working on Extension , its not fully achieved yet but i feel pain on the anterior side of the bone where u mentioned , is it the cyclop lesion ? Or is this normal to feel pain after surgery there ? Yes if i push down i feel pain there. Also when i try to walk i feel a blockage sometimes and then if i wait for a second it goes away suddenly.

Can we use paraffin wax therapy after 1 month of ACl + medial mensicus repair surgery?

as long as incisions are completely healed you can. but the key is always active motion

Hi Dr Kaan, Can you get a cyclops lesion twice? What are the odds? Ten months after ACL reconstruction I had bad extention and all symptoms you described. I did an MRI which showed a cyclops lesion. Now, six months after a cyclops lesion surgery my extension gets worse and again have all symptoms like first time.

Hi, thanks for the Video. I have a few questions: 1) How soon after surgery can a cyclops form and be visible on mri? 2) Can cyclops also limit flexion? 3) When I go from extension into flexion I can feel some kind of popping/snapping paired with a little painful and uncomfortable feeling below my kneecap deep inside my knee. Could this be my acl and or the cyclops moving??
