Elvis and Tom were were very close and stayed friends all the way till Elvis passed. They loved each other, went to each other's shows and hung out together. You should her Elvis version of Never Fall In Love Again it's incredible..you can find it on his Way Down in The Jungle Room album. He recorded at his home Graceland just months before he passed.

Yeah, Elvis had been doing his thing for at least 8 years before Tom came on the scene in 1964. Tom would've only been 15 or 16 when Elvis's first hit Heartbreak Hotel reached British shores.
