I also got engaged at 22! My husband and I are high school sweethearts, we dated for eight years before he proposed and we’ve only ever dated each other. A LOT of people told us in high school that we wouldn’t get married, “it’s just puppy love, you’re still in that honeymoon phase, etc…”Then in college I got asked “why hasn’t he proposed yet?” Then we got engaged and everyone started saying “you’re too young.” My dad had the audacity to say “I don’t know him well enough for you to marry him.” Now we have been married for 3 years and I get asked “when are you having a baby?” 😅 other people don’t realize how rude they are. We are very happy together. We grew up together and we are best friends. I couldn’t have met a more perfect man for me. Best wishes, Mia! We went through pre-marital counseling and planned our wedding and life together for a year and we also decided the best way to convince people of our dedication to each other is with our happy marriage. All of my 4 siblings got married before they were 22 and they all have 10-20 years of marriage so far, with beautiful kids and they’re so happy to this day. I waited until I was 32 to get engaged because that’s how long it took me to get to the best partner I could even imagine. Everyone has their own journey! So happy for you! @Al Stewart *this is sorta weird since I’m virtually younger than you but… I think that there’s actually none, or at least low amounts of that sweet, cozy, lovely book romance in real life. Yeah, you can have that ditzy relationship with a real person but I don’t think it’s necessarily book/movie romance because. I don’t know about you but once I lowered my standards and expectations I was so much happier. Now, about the loneliness it doesn’t necessarily have to be a romantic relationship. Hanging out with close friends, family, a pet if you have one… even a book or a good Netflix show really, can help sooth your ‘loneliness’ if you have it. There’s nothing wrong with taking life at your own pace, and just because everybody around you is getting dating/getting married, doesn’t mean you have to as well… I hope that helped 💜
