I think TBBT is definitely friends for a new generation. Just like friends people either love it or hate it. Personally I love both. Good light hearted fun combined with some great sentimental moments and fun characters.

Since the creator of TBBT also worked on the production of Friends, earned his living from it, and I am very familiar with both series, there are a lot of parallels for me as an "expert". Some jokes were even reworked and well packaged and used again. I would also like to stress that I have no problem with that at all, since they worked very well in both series - and amused me... European here btw.

Since you laughed so much and enjoyed it, I'd definitely recommend continuing since this series was such a a force in its time. As for the eraser boards, real physicts would put formulas on the boards, differencing each episode because of the university they used for shots. When Sheldon says the last doodle is just a spoof, it really was.

I hope you continue reacting to TBBT! I'm not even that big a fan of sitcoms in general, but TBBT is one of my favorite shows, especially as it got into some of the later seasons (even though the early seasons are fun, too). One fun thing - pretty much all of the pop culture and science references in the show are accurate which is something most other shows don't care enough to bother with. The other thing I really like about the show is all of the characters are well written and, as a regular watcher, you begin to like and care about all of them.

My father loved this show, tried to get me to watch it when it was on. When I heard it was ending, I watched the last two episodes, fell in love. My local vid store had the seasons, so I rented and watched the whole thing. When the vid store closed in 2021, I bought all the seasons. I watch it on a dvd player In the kitchen when I'm getting ready for work, making food or doing the dishes. I've seen all 12 seasons over and over since 2020, lost count how many times I've rewatched the whole series. Finished it again about 3 weeks ago, today I'm back up to the 5th season. 😊

Will & Grace is pretty funny too. First couple of seasons are meh but the characters become so unhinged and insane it's hilarious. Recommended at least checking out a compilation vid to see if you're into it, a bunch of them don't spoil much because of the level of insanity it's hard to know the context unless you've seen the full episode.

I love TBBT, and I'm happy you enjoyed the first few episodes, the early seasons are... rough to watch. Chuck Lorre came from Two and a Half Men with a lot of acceptance of misogyny, plus a not-so-clear path for the guys, so the show feels pretty empty until it starts to unravel into what it is. For such a character-driven show it takes a while to settle, but starting on season 3 it becomes way way better, so if you like it now, you'll like it even more.

As long as you don’t take it too seriously, TBBT is a great show. It became my family’s lockdown watch during COVID so it holds a special place in my heart! Sept. 24, 2007 season 1 only 17 episodes, Nov. 5, 2007 a SAG strike shut down production, the strike ended Feb.12, 2008, season 2 the first episode was Sept.12, 2008. I did a one week Nielsen Ratings during the strike and couldn't rate "The Big Bang Theory", so I wrote a rave review of the show in added comments, I was afraid it wouldn't come back but the rest is history, 12 seasons later and all the shows stars multimillionaire's! I watched FRIENDS as it 1st ran. I'm about the same age as the cast (old now) Love that show. But then BBT stole my heart. I was going to suggest you watch the entire series high, but that's 12 seasons. 😁😂 Although..... I've probably watched every episode while high at least once. One of my FAV shows. Seen it many times in repeat. I'm sure others have already said this, but you watched the original pilot, not the one that aired. They cut out the whole sperm bank "masturbating for money" scene, as it doesn't really fit Sheldon's character. If you watch more... and you should.... you'll likely agree that it isn't in character with Sheldon.

This is such a great show that has TONS of pop culture references and guest stars from sci-fi movies, tv, and real life scientists and people from NASA
