Don't forget you can charge the stasis rifle shots! Just hold down the shoot button for a while and it'll shoot a large stasis sphere that lasts for MUCH longer (like 20-30ish seconds). The "Rig for Silent Running" is your primary method of escaping leviathans, as their detection of you is *very* sound dependent. It pairs well with the creature decoys, which you can load into the Cyclops (and you can make an upgrade that increases the amount you can load at one time, highly recommend). However, silent running uses a lot of power, so keep extra power cells and use it sparingly. Hope this helps if you see this, Butch

Also the seamoth perimiter defense system does use your seamoth's energy, but with just a tap, the drain is very small. you can charge the electric blast from the defense system by holding down the button, which will shoot out the eletricity in a big 360º radius around you, but it does spend 10 energy points everytime you charge it fully so beware of that

Stasis Rifle tip! you can charge the shots by holding the button to increase how long they stay suspended in stasis, super helpful for when you need to scan something that doesn't want to be scanned or using the time to stab ocean uglies. The reefbacks are completely harmless and are actually a good thing because they have barnacles on them that drop copper. However sometimes they have bitters or tiger plants on and around them other than that they are completely safe to approach. Also the lights in the cyclops don't use power but everything else does so remember to only use silent running if needed and to turn off the engine when not driving. The lantern trees are extremely useful you can plant and eat them by picking the lantern fruit hanging on the tree they give more food and water than the bulbo tree and are really useful in the cyclops because when your thousands of meters bellow the surface in the cyclops and can't return to the base without starving lantern fruit is a life saver. Also i can not recommend enough that you should plant the blood oil and deep shrooms in your outdoor garden because you are going to need them later on and im guessing you don't want to go back to the deep shroom biome. Love the series hope you continue playing and hope you will become more comfortable in the sea 👍
@elimgarak1617 Жыл бұрын
Exactly - came here to mention that useful plants should be replanted, including the blood oil vines. Most players never figure out that you can get seeds and plant things and just have an infinite supply of useful stuff. I am not sure I thought of it out on my first playthrough either.

The trees you've found got me through the game, they give a lot of hydration - cut them with a knife and eat the cuttings (leave some for planting of course). One or two growbeds of them inside of the Cyclops should basically cover all of your sustenance (you'll still need some bottled water/cured fish or whatever for longer seamoth trips). I find this whole playthrough to be an absolutely fascinating look into thalassophobia and how it manifests - I honestly never knew that it could be that bad. I have basically the opposite thing - I love deep water, there's something very calming about it to me. Those moments when you swim out (in game or in real life) and the seafloor drops somewhere out of sight and there's just blue all around you? Magic. I legitimately built one of my bases at the bottom of the floating island you've visited today, kinda hanging down from one of the spikes, just so I can have that feeling at all times when playing. Cyclops tips: a) (the one you've figured out the hard way but it's worth saying) silent running eats a ton of power, only use it when you really need to; b) there's a button called "cameras" or something, right above the silent running button - it cycles between several outside cameras which are tremendously helpful when piloting the Cyclops through tight spaces (or just in general, I tend to use them 80% of the time when I'm in this thing); c) engines being turned on but idle still eat your power! So it's best to power down when you're not actively piloting (indoor/outdoor lights don't use power tho, use these as much as you want - and remember that engines off == no noise!); d) you can build more storage lockers inside the Cyclops, my whole bottom deck is usually just lockers on top of lockers; e) while piloting, on the left, there's a Cyclops health indicator - and right below it there's another thing that's marked with a jagged line. That's your sound indicator - tells you how much noise you're making. Ahead Slow is quiet enough for most purposes.

Your new name is captain badass. That was legitimately awesome to see you mess up an aggressive fauna that you have so little experience with. At the end of the day, that’s all it is man. You just got attacked by a bad guy in a video game, happens all the time. Some you can fight, some you can escape. Respect. Some personal tips for for courage to combat that feeling of your stomach turning inside out when you see depth. These helped me a lot: When I see ocean depth, part of my fear is the same feeling I get with heights. When you look down off a skyscraper or are at the top of a roller coaster there’s that feeling of instability and lack of control of your movements. But think of it this way… in subnautica, under water, there is no gravity (unless you’re in the prawn suit, in which case get good with the grappling hook). Short of a reaper coming at you, you can move in any direction, ignoring the effects of gravity, and you never have to worry about being pulled in any direction other than where you choose. You have ultimate power over your movements. Another thing that’s easy to overlook subconsciously is that you’re at a point in the game where you pretty much don’t physically need to be at the surface anymore! You will basically never need to get to the surface for oxygen. You have vehicles with breathable air and loads of storage space. Sure you gotta go back to base every once in a while but you can pretty much always continue adventuring in the sea floor as long as you have a charged vehicle somewhere close by. There are shallow biomes more dangerous than the endgame depths like the aurora that you’ve survived, and nothing in the game is as aggressive as the reaper. In my opinion, at this point, going out too far and passing the edge of the map is scarier to me than scouring the ocean floor with the safety of my vehicles.

It's amazing to see someone who literally freaked at the sight of shallow, open water, come so far as to beat off a large, predatory electric eel with a knife, deep in the ocean. One step at a time, you've achieved a real feat. This game, to a thalassophobe, is probably worse than any spider-heavy game is to a severe arachnophobe. You should be proud you can fight your fears to such an extent. It's incredible to witness this journey, and I hope you continue to go forth. Have a great day!

Captain Butch Im so proud of you, but here are somethings you might wanna know. The hull reinforcement only lowers the damage you get by driving into the ground. So it does NOT lower the damage you get by fish attacking you. The bulbo tree is limited. Slash them to often and they will be gone, but the last hit will ALWAYS give you two seeds. So plant at least one more. The melons can be slashed for their seeds. They give a lot of food and water. Always turn off the light and the cyclops, cause that stuff drains the energy like crazy. Do not spam the atasis rifle. Shot one short one for the first freeze and then a fully loaded second shot for the longer freeze. Besides that most fishes will run away if you hit them once. Keep up the good work. Love the way you narrat the videos. Its a nice addition.

The De-extinction mod adds a ton of new stuff to the game including a new leviathan, and the bloop and blaza mod that adds two new leviathans to the game. There's also the persistent reapers mod which makes it so more reaper leviathans exist that freely roam the map instead of being confined to set areas, its terrifying. Once your normal playthrough is over, it'd be really cool to see you do a modded playthrough with this new stuff from content mods, and all of the quality of life mods that are out there too. Amazing episode Captain Butch, it's great to see you challenge yourself and push past your fears. You'll really love the Cyclops Sonar upgrade, and all the other upgrades are found in and around wrecks, which you can stumble upon through searching or you can scan for them with the Scanner Room. Holding down on the Stasis Rifle before you release builds up a larger charge for a larger stasis field, which lasts longer. The same goes for the Seamoth Perimeter Defense, you'll have to hold the button down for a longer period of time to build up a larger charge to deter larger threats. It actually does use a ton of power from the Seamoth so bring an extra power cell or use the Seamoth Solar Charger. This is my favorite Subnautica playthrough of all time. Love your narration, editing and sense of humor. Carry on Captain!

I'm pretty sure Unstuck only unsticks the player. Vehicles get left behind. I think the solution to this problem is a propulsion cannon

The "Silent Running" is so that dangerous creatures can't hear the sub as easily and you can sneak past them. It does use up a LOT of power, though. So use it sparingly. Make sure to turn off your engine when you leave the cyclops so it doesn't attract any creatures while you're away. And you can leave the lights in it on all the time, they don't drain any power.

Also want to mention, you did fantastic at defending yourself against that Ampeel! Huge win for you and that decision to fight back seems to have paid off in huge ways! Congrats! You are a warrior beast and you will conquer that planet!

The bulbo tree is actually one of the best sources of food in the game surprisingly, The seeds give you both food, and water And they grow fast! Just chop em up, eat a few, save a couple, and replant! Glad you are now the ultimate farmer!

so proud of you for touching a reefback!!!!! reefbacks themselves sre completly safe, but they do house a plant that will just shoot little spikes at you if you get close. i hope in the future videos your not just like, being real brave touching a reefback and then think they hurt you when it was just the plant lmao

To be fair, there used to be a bug that allowed you to use battery and powercell chargers in the Cyclops without draining the Cyclops.
