tbh, I don't understand how you feel safer in cyclopse than in seamoth... To me, moth always felt safer because it's really fast and lets me run away when faced with danger. That said, you're really underusing turning off the engine of cyclops, lot of enemies are attracted by sound (of engine).

@@ButchX3 its better if you take your time to find everything...there are 3 floors to the base. the other hatch entrance at the top gives u access to the 2 other floors. useful blueprints to scan there and to find, as well as good items and more PDAs. u now have the defense system which is great when hostiles are near you. but know that you can charge it up for a bigger and stronger blast, which is more power intensive too.

We know all of this stressing for you, but once you took your time to learn about this Place, its kinda peaceful. At first, you couldnt even jump from the Pod into the shallow waters. Now youre down to 500m without getting a heartattack :D Progress. (iam one of these people who enjoy the deepsea in this Game. even considered to do a playthrough with low usage of Submarines.)

I’d heavily recommend reading and listening to the PDA entries. Not only do they give you some backstory on Alterra, the Degasi, but also about the planet and what the aliens were doing here. That’ll be super important later in the game. Not to mention, reading the PDA entries often gives insight into how some of the fauna behaves (for example, crabsquids are attracted to light and send out an EMP.)

About the perimeter defense system, it's useless to spam low-charge pulses if you're not under attack (it drains your energy). Also, the ability can be held down for a few seconds to create more powerful discharges. They have more range and can repel big predators.

Just a small tip for piloting the Cyclops. The radar on your right detects potentially dangerous creatures in yellow, attacking creatures in red, and displays their position in correlation to the submarine.

Several more tips for captain Butch 1. Park the sea moth in the base moon pool, not in the cyclops. There is absolutely no reason for you to prefer the sea moth to the prawn suit. The sea moth is perfectly capable of operating on its own in the stage of the game that you are in. The prawn suit can navigate short distances by itself, but isn’t designed for long-range exploratory missions. Every vehicle in subnautica has a purpose. 2. There is actually a hatch to get inside of the degasi base upper floor, it’s just on a different side of the base. 3. I recommend you find a full map of the world on google images and memorize it. It’ll help you find your way around, make the world less scary, and in the process, stop me from pulling my hair out every time you take the cyclops out on a sea moth tier mission. 4. Don’t spam the sea moth perimeter defense system. It doesn’t help. Hitting it once will get the creature to F off. Spamming it not only does nothing to help, but also makes it have to constantly recharge and drains your seamoths power. 5. The swim charge fins are not good. I am yet to see a single pro subnautica player use them. They aren’t as fast, only charge your held tools, and generally aren’t as good as the ultra glide fins. I highly, highly recommend you swap back to the ultra glide fins. That will be all for today captain.

10:37 This is the cyclops’s enemy radar, it lets you know when creatures that can potentially damage the cyclops are nearby. Yellow means the creatures haven’t noticed you red means they’re currently coming for you. You should pay attention to this indicator while driving.

What up Butch, love the series! Hate to say it, but you're going to have to go back to the Degassi base to check the upper level. Look for an entrance outside the top Multipurpose room. There is a creature egg that you should pick up which will help brighten your mood :) For the next 500m signal, look for a huge entrance to a "cave", that is the next place to go for the story and is my favorite biome in the game. Also, you may see ghosts (you'll know what I mean eventually ;). Keep fighting that fear and push on lad!

And for the Scanner room... at 30:12 you can see the Sandstone chunk on page 2. So you could already scan for it. The scanning with your handhold Scanner gives you information that you can read in the Database. Too bad you already said you don't like to read, but it could make your life alot easier if you would.

You did amazing this episode, facing the deep of the second Degasi habitat! It's quite a spooky place, with new creatures to face. Sadly, you do need to take another, more thorough look at the base. But I promise you it's so, so worth it, it has something I really think will help you get through the game. May I suggest parking the Seamoth further from the base, at a safer location, and brave it with your Seaglider? Also, I don't think you have the beacon on for the Cyclops, that would have helped you locate the exit. Best of luck, you're doing great!

I’m very much looking forward to you getting to that next life pod. That said, I would recommend making smaller temporary bases around. Scanner rooms become incredibly useful but have a limited range. It’s fairly easy to carry the titanium for a multipurpose room and a bioreactor with you now that you have the cyclops. Especially as you go deeper, you may need a panic room underwater soon. Take care of yourself!😊

The Lifepod 2 transmission always gives me chills. Not sure why. Just imagine having to swim 500 meters straight up. You know you likely won't make it (especially not without fins) but you try anyway. You always miss the other survivors of the Aurora by moments, too. That would be really depressing. It's easy to let those story details go over your head but once you think about it... Tragic.

20:00 - Enter the Warper, my personal nemesis in this game. The creature that overwhelmingly terrifies me the most. Because the creature itself is artificial (see game's lore), its appearance and sounds are the stuff of nightmares and it actually warps you out of your seamoth/prawn, leaving you exposed to the abyss. I have killed a bunch of Reapers, Shadow Leviathans and even Sea Dragons during my time in Subnautica, by using the stasis rifle and knife. But the Warper is literally unkillable. And, oh boy, have I tried...

Cyclops has unlimited deapth. The deapth limit shown is just a deapth at which its immune to dmg from collisions with ground... So yeah learning to use cameras in piloting a cyclops is absolutely essential later on. Especially in a certain biome later in the game

Don't you fret Captain Butch. Reefbacks may be leviathans but they are also herbivores that don't care about you whatsoever. Tiger plants do grow on their backs so watch out for them. There's also an upper floor to the new degasi habitat. You can enter from a hatch on the outside. Don't forget to be thorough because something semi-comforting awaits!😋👍

Hey Butch, as always an amazing video. I have recently come accross a tactic to tackle phobias and thought I'd let you know in case you are interested. While the squint and sprint method gets you through uncomfortable situations quickly, whenever something goes not acording to plan it may act as negative reinforcement of the phobia. The approach I'll outline below tries to counteract this phenomenon by building positive reinforcements step by step. After you have set a goal of approaching an uncomfortable situation try following the steps below: - Before you approach the situation concider what about the situation will make you uncomfortable and how you may react to these triggers when facing them - Slowly approach the situation to a level where you are just uncomfortable enough not to go any further without panicing - Stop, aknowledge the fear/discomfort and observe how you react to the triggers you have thought about in step one - Once you have observed how and why you react, stay in the situation until you are about twice as comfortable as when you started it, without making irratic decisions. No need to push - Finally either end the situation and use it as a launchpad for the next "adventure" or keep on increasing the level of discomfort and repeating from step 1

I know it’s a library of information and most of it may seem boring, but I highly recommend reading up on the things you scan! There’s a fair amount of story in the Degasi tapes especially. The Degasi was the ship and crew that crash landed on 4546B (the planet your on in game) is the reason you’re there. The Aurora was a rescue vessel trying to find the survivors… kinda like another ship that you watched blow up

Also if it’s a “too anxious to scan” thing, most items can be dropped in your own habitat and can still be scanned. Some will be important for later because you need to scan these to craft them. And many plants and creatures can be put into the large aquarium via seeds and eggs you find (it’s a safe environment so you can scan even bone sharks without worry). With the added exceptions of larger plants and larger creatures of course like the reaper leviathan.. you can still scan them but I’d make use of the full charge of your stun gun

hey butch, you can toggle the cyclop external lights with the same button as the seamoth btw -the cyclops doesn't take collision damage from the environment (based on my experience) -the seamoth hull reinforcement module is only effective against environmental collision damage iirc -you can hold down the perimeter defense system button to increase the range of the blast (it will greatly increase the power consumption tho)

Glad you came out of that with your seamoth intact. I went there and the damn crabsquids destroyed my (second) fully-upgraded seamoth while I was inside. Never quit without saving so quickly, even though I lost 27 minutes of play time.

What a journey! I really am blown away by your documentary style, Butch. The music, narration, must take a minute to edit all this as well.. This is one of the most unique playthroughs I've seen, excellent work Captain Butch.
