That's a late 70s or early 80s Arby's and no wonder it didn't sell if a sink hole has opened up underneath it. In fact it's a miracle it's still standing and it could go at any time.

The restaurant was opened in 1988, closed in 2013 because the owner McDonald was ordered to redo the parking lot and remodel the store, and he refused and closed it down, the manager of the store did not even know it until she went to work at 6:30 that morning, and they told Miss Rogers they were closing.

I been to this one probably a hundred times when I was a kid. I think it was built in late 80s. It ran until late 2010s. Never been remodeled in the inside at all. Used to have a salad bar. It's still in there. Another owner bought it after it closed but building and parking lot are in bad shape. Surprised the back wall didn't cave in that holds up parking lot. Loved this place

I remember there was one of the original wagon-style ones with the great big neon hat sign in the Scranton area when I was a kid in the 70s, don't recall if it lasted much into the 80s or not. There is always something sad and lonely about a place where it used to have lots of people, like the building it's self loses the will to continue on without people to breath life into it. Of course a sinkhole in the middle of the place is a very good reason to abandon it but still it looks sad missing the people who used to go there.

It's sad to see this. It was built in the 80's. I have eaten here many times. I like their roast beef sandwiches! This restaurant was unfortunately built on an area that had been filled with dirt, but it was not adequately roll compacted, so over time subsidence occurred. The drive thru on the north side of the building started sinking first. I figured at some point the subsidence would undercut the structure itself. I was sad to see it go.

It looks nearly identical to a location I remember in Houston, TX from back in the 90s. I am a 90s kid and am not sure when this "chuck wagon" building design was introduced, but I remember it well. Said location eventually closed and was a Church's Chicken throughout the 2000s and then by 2017 or so it became some tea place. Church's kept the Arby's look and just painted the building yellow, but the tea shop completely overhauled the place leaving no traces of the Arby's look. Seeing a classic designed building in this shape is just sickening! Fast food restaurants lack character these days because they all use the shoebox design, which pretty much makes them all identical and bland!

It’s quite obvious the flat roof has failed, probably one of the old tar roofs that had to be remopped with fresh tar every few years. It will need a whole new roof in order to rebuilt the interior of that structure. If they got onto the roof they probably intentionally tore apart that roof to get into the structure. Is that a for sale sign in the front lawn? Who would purchase that structure if it has been affected by a sink hole. I am surprised that the city or county has not condemned the building because of the sinkhole.

@@Abandoned1673 if someone tried that around here, they might hear a firearm go off or a dog coming after them. We don't have cops all over like cities do. I live in the sticks. Farms around me, farmers don't like their land being vandalized. They call them illegal trespassers. We tend to handle the problem, then call the sheriff or state patrol.

Yeah, I'd say this is a 1980's building. I remember the 1970's did have the 10 gallon hat for their exterior signage originally. Arby's used to have the an actual roast beef cut they'd carve from, nothing compared to that after they switched to the pre-sliced garbage. This was in Portland Oregon, I can't say if they did nation wide?
