Honestly, I really get this story. When I was a sophomore in high school, a single straight white girl who looked three years younger than her actual age, I had my own experience. There was this guy that I didn't know who was . . . persistent. I didn't know him, but I learned later that he was in my economics class. One day, he asked me out. (Again, didn't really know him.) I politely said no and apologized and I thought that was it. Nope. This guy kept trying and, apparently, due to how I look and the reputation that I had low self esteem and never had a boyfriend, I guess he thought I was easy and would constantly drop comments about his relationship with condoms like passionate hugging was all I was into. This went on for months and I had nightmares about it, what he could've done to me if he got me alone. (He did things that triggered them, but this comment would be LONG if I named everything he did. (And his friends.)) I got the school involved and I never saw him again, but what still haunts me is that I don't know his last name and my mind kept pushing what his face looked like out of my mind. All I have to recognize him if we ever met was his first name and his build. Every time I see someone as big as him, that might be him, my mind shuts down and my heart races because I'm so scared that I'm going to turn away and end up with a mouth full of chloroform. Some guys just don't know how to take "no."
