Oh man, this happened to me, but it lasted over a year before I got it into remission. I went to the ER one night and the doctor actually asked to take a photo of my back to show his colleagues, because he'd never seen anything quite that bad. They gave me a Benadryl IV that helped. I finally got rid of the flare ups by an extreme diet change and reducing stress. It sucks when your immune system turns on you.

It really does. I developed Graves disease nearly 5 years ago, an auto immune condition where the immune system starts attacking the thyroid (as it's mistaken the thyroid as a threat). It just seems so absurd for the body to suddenly start thinking that something that's ALWAYS been there is a threat. I'm still struggling with the condition thanks to the pandemic buggering up my treatment, but I should finally be getting surgery soon that should make me feel better.

I've gotten stress hives too! I'd just gone through 3 big life events in the span of a month ( financed my first car with my own monies, about to move out of my parent's place, about to elope with my now husband ) and one night I stepped outta the shower to see lil prickly bumps on my chest and tum. Woke up the next morning and they were EVERYWHERE. I was so panicked because my fiancee was returning from deployment soon and I had too much to do to be sick. Thankfully our local hospital had a nurse hotline one could call to talk to an actual heckin nurse. She asks a few key questions over the phone, rules out all the more common causes, asks if life has been particularly hectic lately and after a moment of thought I bust out laughing like a nutter whilst putting the sentance "Well yeah I just bought my first car, I'm getting married, and I'm moving out" without sounding *absurdly overworked.* the nurse laughed too once I put my words together, and said "Yeah, that's probably it. But here's the signs to watch out for..." and told me if it hurts or I have any trouble breathing go straight to the ER. I met with a friend for coffee and sandwiches, then went to her place to burn a couple episodes of a show, had a good laugh at how hard I always push myself, and things cleared up in two days without intervention. Sorry you had a horrible time, but dat epi pen tho? Lol

I had hives back when I was 11- Honestly, watching this video gave me really uncomfortable tingles and flashbacks of it ;-; I was stuck with it for about 6 months. They suck so I want to share some tips on getting rid of them. Anyways, hives come from allergic reactions, mostly from dust and animals. They're like itchy bumps on your skin, growing worse as you scratch. -Wear baggy, clean clothes. Hives can happen when you wear too-tight clothes. -Take a cold shower. -Ibuprofen and allergy pills (allegra, Claritin) or pills your doctor prescribed you. -DO NOT go to the doctor unless it's really bad. Go to an allergy specialist/dermatologist. -Don't eat too much of the same things, eat healthier. -Refrain from scratching. Trust me. -I found this really nice medicine thing from Japan, you kinda just apply it and the itchiness disappears. Dunno what it's called tho. Edit: still don't know what it's called exactly, but it's from a company called muhi. -They won't disappear just by taking meds. You have to make effort too. Try be healthier and avoid things that usually cause hives. -I took Zyrtec-R for a week, and my hives were gone. Don't take them unless your doctor/allergy specialist lets you tho. It has risky consequences. Anyways, hope this helps ♥️

People really underestimate the mental strain of a bad itch. Not too long ago I was breaking out in itchy patches around my neck and jawline (probably from using too many skincare products) and I was shocked by how miserable I felt. I, strangely enough, have my own "Christmas trauma" story. It was the week before Christmas, and I'd worked at my serving job as normal that day for lunch. I went to church that night for our lessons and carols service, and part way through the service i started feeling a bit hot, and eventually I started having stomach cramps. Figured i was hot from the thick robes i was wearing, and just needed to use the toilet. During one of our songs, i felt a sudden urge to vomit, but i held it in until we finished the service. The moment the postlude began, i slipped out of my pew, ran downstairs to the men's bathroom in the choir room, and emptied my dinner into the toilet. Figured that I'd eaten something my stomach just didn't like (id had beanie weenies for lunch) but i didnt stop puking. Got home a while later, and i still couldn't stop throwing up. Didn't sleep that night at all. If i made one slight adjustment in my sleeping position, off to the bathroom I went. This didn't stop for 24 hours. The part I'd found strange at the time was that i later developed a fever, which was confusing since i thought i had food poisoning. My sickness lasted for three days following that sunday night, and i missed all the school we had leading up to Christmas break. It was literal torture. I couldn't sleep, i couldn't stop throwing up even when there was nothing in my stomach, and i was constantly dehydrated. Christmas Eve i went in to work and learned that there'd been an outbreak of norovirus where i worked, and I'd been one of the victims. I work at a retirement center btw, which just put thoughts in my mind as to what could've happened to the elderly residents. I felt like I was dying, so i can only imagine how they felt.

As someone who is extremely allergic (hives, eardrum rupturing never-ending sneezes, and cactus eyes to name a few symptoms) to all fur and dust and has 2 cats and a dog... yeah no the pain is worth it, you’d figure out how to live with it before actually getting rid of your babies. Immunotherapy really helped and Allergy pills help a lot. It’s a slow process but it’s manageable if it’s not life threatening. With that being said, IGNORE EVERYTHING I SAID IF YOUR ALLERGIES TRIGGER RESPIRATORY ISSUES.

Funny story : when I was 12 years old, I got HIVES while I was sitting on the ground (somehow that caused it). Then I went to the doctors and gave me lotions for the rashes but after a few weeks it doesn't seem to help. So, for the past two weeks my body were full of rashes and I can't go out but I also don't have to go to school so *yeah* . Anyway, while I was waiting for an appointment, an old lady sitting next to me ask me what happened and I told her what was it and then she told me there's a cure. The cure was rubbing hot chilli over your body and that seemed cure it. I was like (Are you alright, or did you didn't take the right medicine so you are in a clinic). But the pain and itches was so painful so I tried and..... It works, it actually works, the itches was gone but feel like my body was on fire!!! So from that they forward, I would sit on a couch. Who knew a crazy lady knew the cure for HIVES.

I have it too... Not fun! Video explains it well! Now that I know this video exists, I can just send this to people I meet, and I no longer will have to spend an hour explaining my condition to them. Doctor says it's caused by sweating. Turns out we sweat everyday. Even when it's not hot we usually at least sweat a little bit, and that's enough to trigger it. And of course being in a stressful situation will of course trigger it indirectly.

Dear god I can only imagine the pain. I know my own allergies so I tend to avoid them, except for cats. I love cats too much and I will die on that hill with my swollen eyes. The worst pain for me was the first time I'd ever thrown out my back. My parents like to buy things in bulk, this includes cases of water. So I was hauling it in and suddenly my back started to hurt but didn't think anything of it because of a prior injury that I figured was acting up. Later on I woke up around 3 AM in slight pain and discomfort and...I couldn't move! My mom called an ambulance because any time I tried to sit up or move from my spot, I would get intense pain in my back and I was already in pain some form of pain. When they picked me up to put me on the gurney, I felt like I was being torn in half. I normally kind of grit my teeth when I experience pain...nah, this time I screamed. They actually hospitalized me and told me I wasn't allowed to leave until I could walk normally again. Me, being stubborn and wanting to leave, tried to do just that. I had to walk around using my IV as a cane and the hand rails on the sides of the walls for two days before they finally said I could leave. I didn't even have control over the TV, but at least I had my 3DS with me. 2.5/10 would not recommend.

In all honesty, I have a HORRIBLE hives allergy to penicillin, and it's occurred like 2 or 3 times. Just being in a room with something that had to do with exposed penicillin would cause it. Now, I don't have just your simple pain and itch. I swell and grow huge "skin bubbles" across my entire body, become super sensitive and occasionally get seizures. So, you know, not very great.
