I Got PERMANENT Residence in Albania 🇦🇱

The past few weeks have been busy, so here's the recap. I searched for fall colors in Pogradec, I went to Korçë to apply for my residence permit, I trained the puppies a bit, I watched the Albania soccer game against Czech Republic, I received my permanent residence permit, and then I took a short weekend trip to Thessaloniki, Greece.

I can’t wait to get my Albanian passport just because of Gjergj Kastrioti and his flag. I am from Dardania aka Northern Albania with a USA citizenship. I don’t really need any other passport but I do want the Albanian one just because of him. Despite his death since 1468, he is still an inspiration that defied and won against a brutal empire.

Congrats James, you always manage to capture what makes Albania so special. When I was there and Albanians found out I was American and always asked me "Why did you come here??" with surprise, I think I should've just shown them your videos rather than coming up with an explanation lol

Congrats on the permit! I was talking to a restaurant owner the other day about how the business is going and he said "There are ups and downs, just like in life, but be busy working so that you don't have too much time to think about it." Perhaps there is something to that idea xp

That sums up Eastern Europe to a tee They don't really take the time to complain too much they plow ahead unlike the Italians and especially French who complain a lot. I love France and Italy all the same but in places like Bulgaria or Albania you do not get so much melodrama but people just work and get on with it despite the difficulties and bad history.

A little tip about our language which you may know: 1; memorize our alphabet, 2; memorize verbs kam and jam (I have I am) and 3; mingle with locals as much as possible and don't be shy to talk to them in Albanian@@JamesLeithart

it's impossible for me to actually answer that question. But my guess is that being in Albania has opened up opportunities for me that wouldn't have happened if I stayed in the USA. I'm not motivated by money, and by working in Albania it takes fewer hours of work for me to make enough to live on. Basically it gives me more space and freedom to do what I want to do.
