@@ms2k7 - :) which is exactly why I put a heavy duty suede strap on mine out of the box with rubber grommet locks. For £30 it's not worth messing about. Pic: bit.ly/3aVd97g Suede on the inside of the strap also helps stop the guitar moving about as they are not light as you will know. This will help with neck dive on an SG as well. I've recently bought some German Schaller locking pegs to try, but probably on a less expensive guitar first :) and be careful with the screw depth on these - tell them its for a LP. You can get a grommet for free from a Groltsch beer bottle cap (apparently) although I bought a pack with mixed sizes and depths on Amazon. On all my guitars now. Pic: bit.ly/38TFYza

@@Peter-ff1tp I understand the problem with China undercutting the American brands. I agree with you on that, but I also believe guitars are for playing. I lost a lot of sympathy for Gibson when they destroyed all those Firebird X guitars that could have been given to schools, or they could have done anything other than making that egocentric video of someone driving a machine over perfectly useable guitars. They didn’t even take the parts off before destroying them. Certainly at the very least they could have salvaged the bridges and tuners. Waste not want not.
@thomaskafafian28713 жыл бұрын
@@Peter-ff1tp not to beat a dead horse, but another nuanced point is that Gibson has agreements with Chinese factories to make those same guitars for Epiphone in those very same factories. The real businesses getting hurt are the guitar stores because they can’t legally sell Chibsons and no one wants to buy an Epiphone double neck for $1250 when they can buy an Epiphone double neck that says Gibson for 400. It probably helped Gibson by bringing a lot of new people into the market to eventually buy the real thing when they get sick of the Chibson.

I would get rid of the Gibson logos and then buy some Chibson decals to replace them. Maybe have the headstocks re-contoured to change them up from the Gibson trademark. Personally, as someone who doesn't run a youtube channel about guitars I would leave it as it is and just stamp a honking great FAKE on the back over the "serial numbers", nice and deep and possibly with heat so it chars the area a little so its really difficult to remove. And the only reason I would do that is to prevent puke buckets from trying to sell it off as genuine if I ever gave it away.

Out of all the Chibson reviews I've watched, I'm looking forward to seeing yours the most. I trust you and value your opinion. If someone orders them for a ridiculously cheap price someplace, then fine. No harm, no foul. But, when a high end collector gets one, it becomes crime of the century. You can sit around and complain in videos showing that the pickups aren't great, or the bridge isn't the exact issue that should be on it, but, the bottom line is that it says "Gibson" on it. If it fits the gig you're doing (and again, if you got it cheap), I doubt someone's going to come up to you while you're playing and say; "Hey, my friends and I don't think your Les Paul is real."

It was great for a couple of months and then a few weeks back every fret end on both sides of the neck became razor blade sharp. I contacted Gibson to see if their "life time" guarantee would remedy this and thus far I have been ignored. That makes the second big company that has denied warranty service to me. The other company is Martin. They will not accept my 000-X1 for Wty. repair of the frets from 10-14 on strings Hi-E, B and G. They are all fretting out and buzzing beginning a week back. They said it was due to the "WEATHER". The only Whether issue is WHETHER or not I should have bought a Martin.

Gravity will pull the heavy end of the carton to the floor. That's the end you open. Doing it this way leaves 95% of the packing material in the carton when you pull the guitar case out.

I got a 1982 Schecter Strat, i've played others and they feel great but i just couldn't bring myself to buy a modern one. The Omen, The Damian ect,. Not my cup of tea but the strat is something else and the maple neck on it is stunning, anodised pick guard Seymore Duncan singles 2 x A5's and an A 4.1 in the neck and phase switching , it's a bit special.

Along with my Gibsons, Fenders and other makes I own a fake Strat and a fake Rickenbacker 4003 bass - and tho not exact, are perfectly serviceable and fun to play - if you want to replace parts - they are great guinea pigs - the snob appeal you rely on to pay your mortgage is the thing they leverage and headstock candy is what we are really talking about. That double neck was still likely 7-800 bucks all in so ya, it's ok for the to make your copy if the logo says Squier - just not Fender......

You said you going to be doing more episodes on Epiphone. I recently lost all my guitars that I have collected since the 70's. My Les Paul, my 335, hummingbird , Yamaha FG 2000 and my Stratocaster all going up in flames. Only thing that made it was my Memphis strat. And that was the one I used to just hang out in bars with in case I got too drunk and forgot . Alzheimer's has creeping up on me. I know I'll never have the money to replace them. I looked at some under $300 guitars and I figured I would use those for firewood. But I did see Epiphone 335 and a wolf 335 around $400 wondering what your thoughts on the two are? And will you do a comparison on them

I have taken a stand on PayPal and eBay after they screwed me and admitted but would not fix it. I was spending $15,000 a year on ebay for a decade. They are both so big now they don't care they lose all that business over not giving me back my $200.seems like bad business too me to not refund $200 and lose out on fees from $15,000 a year. So I only use them if I really really really really have to. Only have used them both twice in 5 years. Sorry for the rant but I hate PayPal. Now they won't refund sellers even though they are so filthy rich is disgusting.

As an Ebay seller with thousands of transactions and zero negative feedback over those transactions, I can tell you 99.9% of the time Ebay & Paypal will side with the buyer, regardless of your seller record or how obvious a scam was pulled on you. That being said the vast, vast majority of Ebay buyers do operate in good faith. Sorry you had issues with Paypal.

Never buy any kind of electronics on ebay including guitars! I have been screwed so many times with electronic devices that didn't work, or were low quality and wore out very quickly! I have a feeling that sellers buy a lot of defective electronic merchandise and sell them to unsuspecting customers! I've finally learned my lesson!

The same thing happened to me. They admitted the mistake was on their end and still wouldn’t do anything to rectify the situation. They just kept passing me back and forth from Ebay and PayPal - leading me on until they could run the clock out. Dozens of calls and only once did I have someone that spoke clear English and could comprehend what I was saying. They’ve become far to big and detached.

Try a Harley Benton. You can get them on the Thomann website for around 500 bucks they usually need a fretjob and better electronics, but the wood is a solid base from my experience. Ships from Germany tho, so maybe a little tax on it.

@@freshtea228 yeah I've seen em before, the import shipping n such just doesn't seem to be up my alley. Thanks for the tip though! Who knows maybe I'll end up with one anyway haha

I looked again at the Gibson fake in the vid: the writing on the back is a common indicator. Mine has this writing in gold. The lightness of mine was noticeable as well...probably Basswood (painted with enamel). I know this because I had a custom ordered EDS made for me in 1986...pretty heavy, it was.

Maaan, I had a Schecter Diamond Series Tempest BlackJack (not the ATX model) for a couple of years about 10 years ago. Had the Jack and Ace of Spades inlaid in the fret board at 12th fret, bound body/neck/head with Seymour Duncans in it. I kick myself for trading it away. I gave $350 for it used on a Craigslist buy. I think I remember thinking the neck was just a tad too thick for my liking, but I still wish I'd kept it. It was a quality piece. Very dark tone with lots of ass in its pants.
