There is a little known trick for diskpart, you only need to type three letters of each word and it still works. Like "lis dis" or "sel par".

Sometimes there is some film over contacts when you measure it and you need to press harder to get to tin and meassure signal.

Interestingly for DISKPART, you don't have to use the = operator with the format command, you can just use: format fs [type) quick And that'll do the same thing. Lastly, shorthands of the commands and options also work: crea part pri === create partition primary sel dis 1 === select disk 1 etc.

I recently had a fun repair. A friend's PS4 had exactly the same problem as yours. I cleaned the ps4 and changed the coolant paste. Since then it has worked like new. I think if the chip is not properly cooled, the Ps4 simply refuses to work.

That's not how it works bro, a working board will boot even without the fan, and heatsink (of course it does shutdown to prevent damage a few minutes later but there's image output). Your friend possibly has a cracked solder joint under the APU, and while reassembling you possibly added enough pressure on the clamp screws to get the damaged solder ball mechanically connected again. You could test it by disassembling the whole thing again and turning on, but since it's working as of now, I'd say don't touch it. My bet is that it will need to be reballed in the near future

Hey phil, i had this problem before with 3 ps4 but the fat model and one got fixed by using washers on the clamp On my experience, a reflow might fix this issue you having or reballing the apu will fix it 100%

Yeah I'm tempted to do a reflow but I don't think I'd trust it to resell at that point, because I don't know for sure whether it's the apu or the balls underneath the chip causing the issue, it could be either and it's pretty much a guessing game tbf

The retimer on the one X is really difficult to remove at first. The hot air station needs to be at 480°, it's useful to warm the board up with the hot air first before focusing on the chip.

Hey mate, you could supply the retimer but because of what I personally pay (£3 each in bulk) it wouldn't really affect the price. For retimers I charge £50 plus the return shipping. As others have said though the retimer is very difficult to remove, maybe keep trying? It would be easier too if you pop the board in the oven at 120⁰C for 20 minutes first to pre heat it if you're struggling

Yeah generally if I do sell them I'll declare what I've done unless it's something simple like a hard drive swap or a hdmi port, and generally offer a 3 month warranty

It could be a bad bios/firmware chip that won't allow you to verify the drive on the ps4 pro

How real is the risk of the solder in the center pad of the chip or rather under it to squeeze out and make contact with any of the traces ??? And how would you prevent such ?

Personally I've never had that happen and having changed thousands of ICs I'd have to say pretty low really, as long as you use flux when flowing the chip it'll be ok :)

Hi Bro ! Hope you are doing well! I was playing Horizon Forbidden west and my ps5 just switched off and now doesn’t turn back on. I have unplugged it left for a couple minutes and it turns on with a blue light for a second then turns off. When connected to my tv it detects “ PlayStation 5” but nothing else. Tried different outlets no luck - owned the console for 35 days - purchased 18/02/22 - seems like the only option is to send back to Sony absolutely gutted
