Yes!! I was just about to leave a comment about eating the pizza with a fork and knife. I saw that in my research for my first trip to Paris. I actually had pizza one night while in Paris and as they say when in Rome I made a feeble attempt. It finally hit me I'm an American and we eat pizza with our hands. So I was glad to see that you picked up the pizza and took a bite. 😋

When I asked her what she meant, she reminded me that I HATE morning people,gyms, the idea running, effing coffee & especially bright ass places & spaces that don't sell booze. Hi Jay! I'm turning 50 next week. I've checked all the boxes (happily married, healthy kid, career, and -- not to brag--- not one, but TWO adorable black and white dogs! I think those questions are always swirling around, despite one's age or how much you have or haven't accomplished.

I don't know what's going on with youth (I say that as Gen X & the assumption that the podcaster is not) these days, but the whole respect for another's time has just disappeared. That and responding to people either in text(!) or email. It's like "I'll get to you when I feel like it. And if I don't, meh." I'm at a loss for words. When I grew up, you had only so many rings from the phone to answer it and this was before answering machines. It wasn't "I'll answer or respond when I want" because you didn't know who was calling. I think this will come back on them when they need something from someone else. Just my two cents.
@JaySwanson11 ай бұрын
True, but to be fair, the phone would ring a few times a day, and you either had time for a short chat or a long one. Likewise, letter writing required less commitment. These days, you can get messages from 5, 10, 15 different friends in a single day. Some texts, some voice notes. It can take 1-2 hours just to reply to them all. One can't be expected to reply to everyone as quickly, or to jump at message when there are now so many more people vying for our attention. So ultimately, social media/tech is probably the one to blame for this, not Gen Z... just a thought!
@np817311 ай бұрын
My point was really around the fact that the podcaster asked to interview you or agreed to be interviewed by you and basically ghosted you. Incredibly disrespectful of your time and energy. @@JaySwanson A quick text, email, call, something saying "Sorry, can't make it our agreed upon meeting" is the least that a thoughtful person can do.

I agree. Jay seems to ignore mentioning who he is with. I can understand if they don't want to be on camera, but usually it's someone that briefly appears in a shot, so it's only courtesy to mention who's joining him.
@JaySwanson11 ай бұрын
Sometimes you take a quick shot in the moment and you forget to give broader context, like who you're sitting with, why they got fined on the metro, or double fined - also interesting elements of the story that can get forgotten without malicious intent but simply because you're trying to be concise. I'll keep improving on all fronts
