While it's definitely true that Ben Starr did a great job as Clive's VA, honestly unless they just chose an awful VA Clive would've still been a great character. He was still well-written and likable, Ben Starr's voice work just made it even better. Doesn't hurt that Ben Starr seems like a super cool dude in rl too.

Also Ben was auditioning for a different character but the casting director said no, you're gonna voice Clive and then days later told him to try auditioning for young Clive because they liked his voice. And even in the writing process, they allowed the actors when they adlibbed or changed lines which they eventually carried over to changes in the other languages. It was really a great process. You can learn more in their dev interviews.
