Pride will mend with time. You pulled a “dougo”, you were honest about it and probably won’t do it again in that field. Too bad it was near the main road when everyone could see it 😱. Glad your all safe and the fire are not causing you a lot,of smoke.

I found that folding the wings up makes the cultivators sink in more and that makes them harder to pull out.

Yea but the gang packers were pushing up 60 ft of mud so that's why I folded.. after I folded I could move

Don’t be too hard on yourself, Tyson. The sting of having told Shaun not to go there and then getting it stuck yourself in the same spot will wear off after time. 😁 Keep your chin up, brother. 💪🏼

Thanks for keeping it real. It would have been easy to just not share the video, but regretfully farming has these difficult times. Hard to leave ground without seed when you know it will just turn into a massive weed hole.

Exactly...I hate that corner being left and growing into weeds and grass
@wranther Жыл бұрын
Hope there was no damage to the seeder Tyson! Maybe Shaun could do a cameo appearance and explain how anyone could get so stuck in a low point among a bunch of hills like that. Pretty sure he could apply some strong logical reasoning skills so he would not end up stuck in the same location later on. -Bob...

That wasn't too bad. A neighbor of mine had a real bad experience getting his planter stuck. It was brand new this spring I heard. He had a fertilizer cart behind & buried the planter & the cart. When I drove by one wing was twisted 90 degrees with the row units vertical instead of horizontal. They ended up taking that wing completely off & hauled it away. I wonder how much that will cost him to fix? I would not want to have been the one that was driving the tractor.

I have an 1820 and would never lift the wings. That is an incredible amount of weight on 4 sets of wheels. Your front wheels could easily sink to the point they are severely damaged. I find unhooking tractor and tow from side will pull it out.

Good video Tyson. I know it was the drill rather than the tractor that was stuck. I sometimes wonder what will happen if that happens to a quad track, with six inches plus of mud around the tracks.
@leviwulff Жыл бұрын
They either crawl right threw or just spin the tracks. Absoulut bugger to get the track clean after that

@ajskab99 Жыл бұрын
You need a Big Bud just to pull you out (seems to be working for the Welkers 😂😂😂). And if you’d had quads instead of triples, you probably wouldn’t have gotten stuck. Or maybe if you had LSW Titans (or whatever the widest tractor tire is called) as duals you wouldn’t have gotten stuck.

That looks like gumbo soil; more clay type soil. Can walk on top in a drought, but put a tractor on it and it’s like you are on carpet on a super polished floor you just get no traction And go down.
@Northern_Farmer Жыл бұрын
It's actually very sandy...and sandy clay
@Albertafarmer-my1mk Жыл бұрын
Oh geez that would make it tough to get traction. Definitely know the stuck feeling though, we try to run a cultivator around our usual low spots just before we send the seeder in……. This year dad sunk down to within 6 inches of the engine on the old 835 versatile. Only thing that saved him was the ice underneath the mud. So don’t feel too bad it, droughts don’t mean everything will be dry here in Alberta
