Hell yeah. I'm that Opeth kind of fan too. I love the old stuff, and the new stuff as well. I'm excited about this new album, not just for the growling thing, it's the fact that this single (uncomplete), is giving us not just a mix, but the definition of Mikael's ideas in all his journey with Opeth. This album feels like it will be the final form of Opeth, maybe their greatest album. And everybody know, that's huge words, having masterpieces like Blackwater, Ghost, My Arms, Watershed, Heritage, Sorceress and my fav, Still Life. I can't wait till October 11, i need the album in my hands. And being my birthday two days later, it will be my biggest present. Thanks, Mikael.

Yes! Famine and that evil flute section! I cannot believe how many opeth fans miss that. Forget the whole video, imma drop a like just because you mentioned it because that song deserves some love. Seriously tho on the topic; im a big opeth fan since 2006. i like every opeth album but i favor old ones a bit more but not because they are more death metal, but because new ones did not fully deliver their potential with new direction. i think they neeeded a bit more musical contrast because that was the original thing about opeth, the shift between acoustics and brutal vocals and what not. without those surprising shifts and going full black to full white, it just felt incomplete. i hope that constrast is back, now that we have brutals and its still progy.

The closing song "A Story Never Told" is a really soft, but I need to get my hands on the lyrics before I can fully judge. Just on sound I don't like this one as much, but if it's as I suspect... it seems like a plot twist in the story to close. If that's true then it will likely change my opinion.

This is an album to relish at the autumn, it's Opeth, it's impossible to relish it in the summer just like generally Black Metal for instance, at least for me!

@@heavymetalphilosophy Exactly, the spirit is that! Blackwater park is a perfect autumn album, just like Opeth generally!

Totally agree with the Famine riff, totally evil. My second fav record of second era Opeth after Pale Communion

This just may be the most highly anticipated release of an extreme/prog metal album in the history of the galaxy.

This dude looks like a cross between X-Pac and Justin Whang. The point about the growls being used as a story telling device makes me think of Witherscape's use of growls and cleans as character/POV voices.

That’s funny what you said about Step Brothers. I watched it again recently and laughed only one time. “Okay, now the suits seem pretty fucked up.”

Yea it was full of surprises on the first watch but after you've seen it and aren't surprised anymore... it doesn't hold up.

It sounds like a heavy version of Sorceress if produced by Steven Wilson _HEY_ It doesn't sound like old meets new, it just sounds new Prog as fuck

I know it's probably just semantics, but I find screaming and growling to be very different, and not just in pitch and tone. So I'm interested that you call it screaming whereas to me it is definitely growling (BTW, I love growling but not so much screaming).

Please tell me you sing blues. It's not just the talking voice, but also the phrasing and emotion in the speaking. 😂

😆 my second favorite kind of music. I have performed in blues bands but I definitely wouldn't call what I do singing 😆
