Let's be honest, it was an honor FOR Seven Samurai to be seen by you in the theater

Well, I mean…I don’t know about THAT…

Just watched this movie for the first time a few days ago. What a ride. Like you said, Mifune is an absolute joy to watch on the screen, he brings so much energy and emotion into the film. I wasn't aware they were screening the movie but wish I had seen it that way. Hopefully they do some screenings sooner than the 75th anniversary of the film.

I will say that this is the most “clued in” to theater releases, like…in my entire life, but I agree. I’d love to see it again (maybe without people talking and burping through it!) So happy you enjoyed it! I’d love to hear if you continue the Kurosawa journey!

One of my favorites, for sure. Very jealous you got to see it on the big screen. My local art house was playing it for one night only. Hidden fortress is another good one by Kurosawa. Lucas has cited it as his inspiration for telling A New Hope from the perspective of the droids, the two lowliest characters in the film. I think my absolute favorite from that era is Harakiri. Amazing story telling, acting, cinematography. I highly recommend checking it out if you liked seven samurai.

I’ve seen Harakiri! In fact…if it’s a Japanese movie from that time period from Criterion, I’ve probably watched it! Very good stuff. And yeah, Hidden Fortress is really great, too!

I got a chance to see it in 4K as well! An amazing experience. And agree, Mifune is an amazing actor. I not long ago saw High and Low. Another Kurosawa film and simply amazing. Mifune’s role is completely different.

Yeah, Mifune is…well, he’s just amazing. Any of Kurosawa and Mifune’s collaborations were great! I think “Red Beard” is the only one I haven’t seen.

Seven Samurai is my favorite movie of all time. I hope I get a chance to see it on the big screen.

Oh, me, too! I think for ANY movie it’s better in a theater!

I definitely would've seen this at the theater, too! Kagemusha is my favorite Kurosawa movie cause it is has historically accurate events and characters, but Seven Samurai is great too, and I will definitely get the 4K version of this movie if I can find it.

Yes, Kagemusha is a great one! I think that Ikiru made me have the biggest emotional reaction…I think I just need to watch them all again! That BFI set I showed is $36 at Diabolik DVD…!

@@order42show One of the all time greats for sure. I own a copy of Seven Samurai as well. Terrific and an all time classic. I can also highly recommend Kwaidan, quite a unique film
