I think you’re getting Veneers confused with the Turkey Teeth (Crowns) trend everyone’s going abroad for at the minute. Veneers have been a common cosmetic treatment for yearsssss in the UK. Thankfully she’s done her research and chosen the less invasive option for her teeth😁

The correct term for shaving down an entire tooth into a stump, to then place an entire “false tooth” over the top is called a “Crown”. Veneers are much more minimal and just shave down a small part of the front surface. It doesn’t help that countries like Turkey are marketing Crowns as Veneers. In the UK we choose to Crown a tooth as a last resort to save an unhealthy tooth. But abroad they’re doing it to completely healthy teeth as a form of cosmetics😭 We’ve had so many young patients at my work recently coming in after having full sets of Crowns abroad, now with problems. Anybody considering going abroad for treatments, I beg you to please research 😭😭
