I saw them live in front of Jinjer last Friday night. They were amazing and too cute. When she told the crowd to open the pit dressed like a cute anime character, I almost died.

I saw them Sunday. Yukina is a twice a powerful, live. And, "3 2 1 , bounce, bounce, bounce!"

Yukina on main vocals, Matsuri on guitar and vocals, Hettsu on bass and Sae on drums, but Sae who joined in 2020 or thereabouts left the band in 2023 and was replaced by new drummer Chika. Before Sae they had a couple different male drummers as fill-ins. You can see them in earlier videos on songs like L..C. G. (Lollipop Candy Girl) and Envy. Yukina, Matsuri and Hettsu are the founding members. Started band around 2015 in high school. And the band name has 4 syllables Han-a-bi-e pronounce the E on the endlike 'eh.'

"Ware ama tou" is actually the name of the song! It's those three characters that keep popping up when she shouts it (and in the title), it means something like "I have a sweet tooth". The other bit you were looking at, "amaimono tabetai" means "I wanna eat sweets" (or "sweet things"). The lyrics are about sugar addiction which is probably why she's so mad at that cake!

@@BessyQ I've only seen a translation of the lyrics and the band talking about it on a livestream I think? But it sounded like it really is about sugar - talking about how it's unhealthy but it makes her feel good to eat that stuff, how it can be hard to concentrate if she goes without it, so it does end up being a kind of dependency I get what you mean (definitely would work as a metaphor for something else!) but honestly I think they're just being real - there's a song on the same album about how periods suck so it feels like they're just writing their lives. It makes for a cool song idea anyway!

Hah-Nah-Bee-Eh (Hanabie = cold flower -> frosty spring weather, Hanabi = fire flower -> fireworks, Hannahbeeyay = nonsense) are simply fantastic. No other Japanese female metal band has such a high level of creativity in songwriting. This song, for example, doesn't repeat itself once. And Yukina is quite unique with her combination of cute vocals and her growls and screams.

Actually, the correct pronunciation is Ha-Na-Be-Eh and means both Cold Flowers (direct translation) and the cold weather before spring. They came to that name because most of the girls in the band were born in winter months, so they are the "Cold Flowers". I think you would really like their song, Otaku Lovely Densetsu. Another Japanese all girl band I think you would really like is Band Maid. And yes, they do dress in maid costumes. Look for their video, Real Existence.

Hanabie are the masters of brutal cuteness. You should check out their music video for L.C.G (Lollypop Candy Girl), I'm sure you'll enjoy this early masterpiece. Since you obviously really like cuteness and I saw from a reply comment that you also seem to like horror, you should watch the music video "BRATS 十四歳病『BRATS 14 year old disease』". 花冷え is pronounced Ha-nah-bee-eh. The え at the end is pronounced Eh. It literally means cold flower or could be interpreted as early spring flower. The band name is originally based on all the girls having birthdays in early springtime. Hanabi, (花火) as you pronounce it, means firework. The subtleties of Japanese pronunciation is very important. The difference between a flower and a firework. 😉👍

Yukina's birthday is in spring, the other (original) band members have birthdays in winter. The approximate meaning of Hanabie is the return from winter (in the form of freezing temperatures) in the spring season when the cherry blossoms bloom.
