Hi, i also de debaffle my valve covers for a completely different reason. If you sand them down or sandblast them, debris clogs up behind the baffle. My engine builder (60+ years old) always tells every one not to paint their valve covers unless they are 1000% sure everything is completely clean, because the residue behinde the baffle kills a lot of engines. Better said it kills the oil pump first and then the Engine. He showed us every oil pump from every engine he rebuilded, which got killed by sand particles. Reason: The Oil filter just catches the particle which would be pumped to the bearings. But the oil pump has the Bypass for the oil regulation. So sand can travel a lot of times through the pump, also expecting the oil filter is perfect in doing its job. As you also noticed you should reinstall the baffle, that the cam shaft doesn´t thrown the oil out the PCV Hose. Drill and tap for little screws with loctite or weld a little hill back on it and press it down with a press like oem. If you don´t trust little screws in your engine, you should know that crank shaft oil channel endings also get tapped and secured with little m3 or m4 screws.

I drilled out the rivets on my baffles and tapped the holes so I can remove them to clean and just bolt them back in (locktite for sure!). That way I was able to make sure there was no crap behind the plates and also can add some stainless scourer packing to aid in vapour condensation pre catch-can

Gotta go back with the blue dude looks sick that way! The bump im running into right now is I’m trying to find yellow harness and ecu for mine. I got a motor with grey plug and harness and ecu sadly. Do you still need the regular ecu if you go the stand-alone route? I’m aiming for the 500+ hp route.

I remember when you got that head, feels like 6months ago to me I did watch it fresh though. Time flys. Edit: I like the blue hints to it, looks good. Silver looks good too although just blue would work as well. Looks kinda lazy as is even though it's a bit more stealth I suppose.

@@-LFATV my .02 on that maybe a midnight/navy satin/matte blue or a dark grey. I think the gloss might be a waste of time not really change it much. Course neither of those will match the cap or belt. That said though when I get a chance I'm going to start running timing covers when I can: 1. New radiator hose ate up in a wreck onto cam gear. 2. On my aveo spark plug cover bolts went into there while driving, nic'd my aftermarket belt. Both pretty fluke instances but they make me realize having the top open while the bottom is sealed acts as a container to hold debris.
