The de havilland Beaver is one of the safest planes ever created. Both of the planes you flew on still had its original engine configurations. Their has been less than a handful of accidents with this type of aircraft, mostly due to pilot error. They are still to this day highly sought after, even though they were only produced between 1946 to 1967, there is even talk of restarting their production. Cool video, thanks for sharing.

I previously lived in a neighborhood called Octoraro Lakes just south of the Pennsylvania border in maryland. 25 Mi south of Lancaster. I feel so fortunate especially for my children, that we lived there. Tubing down the creek, iceskating on the NUMEROUS ponds, and there were so many herons, egrets and bald eagles and wild turkeys and deer, the school buses had to stop for the deer! I consider myself very Fortunate!

Loving the adventures guys! Keep up the amazing content! RE: Your hitch-hiker, pure peppermint extract, and mothballs (if you can stand the scent). Mice and rats don't like the strong pungent scent, and this combination was what worked for me (I'm a full time RV dweller) in not only getting rid of the one I had, but in stopping any more from joining them. Find the areas they may be coming in through, as well as those they frequent, and soak cotton balls in pure peppermint oil and put them in the area, and if you can stand the smell of the mothballs, place them in the same areas, this will drive out whats there, and act as a deterrent for any looking to come in, but you will need to refresh it periodically to keep it effective. It's all part of RV living and van-life. Good luck!

Hello Beans! If you're visiting all of the National Parks, I recommend getting a National Park Passport Book in which you can collect a stamp at each park and purchase stickers for it. I've had mine for about a decade, and I still love getting a simple stamp in it! You can get stamps at sites that are national seashores, monuments, etc. - not just the main parks. It's a great souvenir for your travels! You can purchase it at the gift shop of most parks. Enjoy your adventures!!

@@butchieblock9118 My thoughts were: did they really wrapped the towel tight enough around my ankles and the elastic cord nice and tight around the towel... ??? The fall down is exciting but the hanging still waiting for the guys to pull you up to the platform again (being 60 m above the river upside down..) is mental. Touring Zimbabwe and Botswana was so exciting but the jump was the cherry on the cake!! Sky diving is another thing.. I have been watching my brother do the 8 jumps necessary for the first certificate. In his group several skydivers wound up in barbwire fences and trees and bike stands and rooftops... ;-) They forgot everything they learn the moment they left the plane 😛

Nice one guys, great vlog as usual. Re critter: Let's hope it's a mouse as opposed to a rat. Rats are highly neophobic and can be very difficult to trap, however, mice are relatively easy to trap and baiting a standard trap with a chocolate raisen, has always worked for me in the past. Good luck with it, it's no joke for sure, you have my sympathy and I hope you get success real soon. PS, If the trapping fails, get some poison bait to get the little sod, that is more or less, guaranteed to work. 😀xx
@ImaCOTV2 жыл бұрын
Poison bait is fine, but if the critter dies in the RV you still have to locate the corpse (or corpses if it has had babies) and remove it/them, otherwise you’re going to have to deal with the smell as it/they decompose. As I recall, didn’t you find the remains of a mouse in the late lamented Frank? And also talked about the smell? There are plenty of articles, and some videos online about how to deal with mice in RVs.

Hi Beans We had a trip to Kielder forest in Northhumberland, on the way up we hit a deep pothole so hard it wrecked two tyres and two wheels (we didnt know at the time) we arrived at tghe campsite, we were going stargazing. The tent was up and I umloaded our camping chairs from the crammed roof box. They were the type that folds to fit a roundish storage bag which we keep in the garage at home. Out of one of them fell a load of torn paper and cards some bits of grass and seed and grains and a small field mouse which immediatly hid behind our cool box. We emptied the tent and eventually located the mouse and chased him out, he or she, we never got close enough to tell ran across the pitch to a small stream, wooded with lots of undergrowth. We hope the Manchester mouse made a good new home in Kielder forest. The stargazing was a washout, fog or rain, fog and rain and when we dropped our tent to go home an inch of snow in 5 minutes which we then had to shake off the tent which was down but not unpegged. The daamage to the car cost £1400 to fix and this was 10 years ago.

Great video! Here in the US Virgin Islands we have sea planes and ferries that connect us to St. Thomas and St. Croix. I just love the sea plane route, taking off in the harbor of St. Thomas while looking down at the cruise ships, the low altitude and the fact that it takes less than half an hour to get there. And the best thing is this....if something happens to the motor, that plane can just glide in for a landing on water and everyone is safe!! Best way to fly in my eyes (from someone that as an INTENSE fear of flying)!!

BTW the National Park Service considers allsites, parks and otherwise as part of their system, so they count...And if you buy A National Parks Passport you can collect stamps for each site. Also, if you buy an annual pass that will save you on entrance fees. And when Noah reaches 8 or 9 there is a special pass for 4thgrade students that gives the entire family free admission for a year.

Seaplane…..terrifying 🥺. But the end result is simply the best ever. The cabin is lovely, so cute and cosy especially the veranda. The only down side is the plane trip back. I’d really have to block that out of my mind😅. Putting the mouse trap under the camper probably would catch a mouse that lives outside and not the one in the camper. Place it inside, maybe in different spots and be patient I guess. Good luck with that. Enjoyed the video very much 👍from 🇱🇺.

My wife and I vacationed in the U.P. a year ago in September. We took the same boat tour to Pictured Rocks. It was the sunset cruise, and was absolutely beautiful even with having to contend with ten foot waves. We hiked the 3.5 miles to Chapel Rock from the ranger station the following day. During our hike two large trees came crashing down around us (the closest was 40 feet away and heard it cracking before eventually watching it fall over.) My wife wanted to turn back but we were less than a mile from our destination and I convinced her we would be safe as long as we kept moving. When we arrived at Chapel Rock the view was magnificent! My wife was able to capture a photograph of Chapel Rock as well as the gorgeous blue water of Lake Superior. We turned that picture into a piece of canvas art that we display in our home. Best wishes on the remainder of your travels. P.S. My wife and I took a seaplane out of Ketchikan, Alaska to Misty Fjord. It too was a 30 minute flight that was absolutely breathtaking. I highly recommend this excursion. We landed in the narrow Fjord, and weren't more than 50 feet from shore when our pilot informed us that the depth was 1500 feet where he eventually docked the plane.

I would 100% travel on a sea plane. I'm sure I'll have that experience one day. Most interesting flight I've ever been on was on a Ford tri-motor from the 30's restored by EAA. Me and dad took that short ride about 12 years ago and his dad flew on one back when the tri-motor was new. Close second is a powered parachute. I love being adventurous.

My first time in a seaplane my wife and I were so excited. We took off from Strahan in Tasmania's south west and landed on the Franklin River in a narrow gorge between rock cliffs. It was awesome!

Hi beans. My wifely and I live in a Class A motorhome and we put steel wool in all the places that a rodent can enter the vehicle and in small places they could be and that has done the trick. Good luck!!!

When I visited Isle Royale over a decade ago, I took the boat from Copper Harbor to Rock Harbor, instead of a seaplane. It was rough waters over and back, but I made it without getting sick. I take my minor victories where I can.

Exciting, just like the glider, the hot air balloon, the para sail, the hang glider over the part of the Pacific where Great Whites breed, and some other wild adventures! I am older now, with more brains but I survived, thankfully!

Emma, I love that you're as groggy and grumpy in the morning as I am. It takes me a while to completely wake up. I'm also not a huge fan of small planes! You are not alone!

My suggestion about the mouse: Get an ultra sonic rodent repellent. You can get them at any hardware. You plug them in and make sure to follow the instructions. You hitchhiker should leave on their own. To keep them out stuff any holes with steel wool. Hope this gets ride of your unwanted friend.

You are two of the best presenters/narrators on you tube. We Americans can easily understand your “proper English”, what part of the UK are you from? My wife and I have now visited 24 of the parks and hope to hit some California ones in the future. Keep on vlogging!

I love that you are visiting the U.S. I feel like travel KZbinrs make it feel like anywhere but the U.S. is interesting to visit when we have so much to see here. Thank you! These videos make me want to visit all of these places. I am from Utah and we have amazing National Parks here. We live in an RV full time. If you’re in Utah, we’d love to show you around. 👍🏼
